Transporter is a sci-fi psych thriller about a 19-year-old on a mission to escape his dysfunctional family & their monstrous business.

THE STORY

Transporter is a sci-fi psychological thriller about a gifted 19-year-old at a crossroads in his troubled life. He has long dreamed of escaping his dysfunctional family and their monstrous family business. However, his manipulative mother is convinced that he's the key to the success she craves. In order to gain his freedom, and earn redemption, he must outwit his mother, and survive his envious and violent brother. The film explores themes of escapism, ambition, envy, culpability, and one special theme that I won't give away just yet. It's set in the world of human trafficking - and beyond.

HOW THIS PROJECT CAME TO BE

This project was born out of Ron Howard's and Canon's Project Imaginat10n. I'm one of the project's winning photographers. While my image was technically a contest winner, it ultimately wasn't chosen by any of the five celebrity directors to inspire their short films. I certainly wasn't happy about that. But then came a fortunate twist of fate. Canon added a film contest to Project Imaginat10n where five non-celebrity directors will have their films exhibited alongside the films of the five celebrity directors. These films will be released under the banner of Ron Howard Presents… And it just so happens that I'm a filmmaker itching to make another film!

So I dug through the winning images, letting them inspire a unique narrative, then tapped into my own life experiences, and crafted a story that's full of both darkness and magic, and most importantly, hope!

Whether or not I win the Project Imaginat10n film contest, we plan on pushing this film to a wide range of short film outlets: festivals, TV networks, online, etc.

Thus, the journey continues.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

The production will take place over the course of four days in early June 2013. We'll be shooting on location in NYC, then going immediately into post production.

Taimak

The Handler: the veteran transporter

Taimak grew up in New York City till he was 7 years old and then his parents chose to move his older brother and two younger sisters to Europe. That’s where he got his first taste of the entertainment business. At 11 years old, he had the privilege to meet legendary director and family friend Frederico Fellini. Mr. Fellini took him on a tour of the set of “Roma” where he also met another film legend Vincent Minelli.

They eventually moved back to New York City where he delved deeper into his martial arts training. He won the New York State kickboxing championship, and the very next year he was cast by music mogul and Motown legend Berry Gordy in the lead role of “The Last Dragon”. He played Bruce Leroy, the Bruce Lee wannabe in search of “The Glow”. He quickly catapulted into Hollywood and a career that has spanned over twenty years. He has appeared in over a dozens plays, including the highly successful “Roadhouse the Comedy” at the Barrow Street Theater in New York City, playing the notable role of Dalton in a zany comedy rendition of Patrick Swayzes 80’s cult classic film and the national tour of the star studded cast of “Cheaters” to name a few. As a martial arts choreographer and teacher, he was inducted into The Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2010. He's been sought after by some of the biggest stars in Hollywood for his skills.

He's worked with Debbie Allen, Jaime King and Madonna on her Drowned World Tour, with former rock band Bush as choreographer of their “Chemical Between Us” video. He guest starred on several national television shows, A Different World and Alley McBeal.

Currently after a bit of a hiatus from Hollywood he's been writing and making his directorial debut with a film noir detective story titled “I’ve Seen Things”. He created a wellness program for young people in 2009 http://www.unfoldingdream.org. He delivers the seminar in “at risk” communities around the country. "I am blessed beyond measure to have had the opportunity to do so much and I hope to inspire and entertain some more, I think with a little more work, the best is yet to come!".

HOW KICKSTARTER WORKS

The way Kickstarter works is, we offer you a variety of unique rewards in exchange for your pledge. However, if we don't reach our goal after 30 days, we don't get a dime of the money you've pledged, it all goes back to you. So, check out our benefits on the right side of the page, and make a pledge. We'd really appreciate it, and we're confident you'll appreciate your rewards.

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES

Since our post production services are completely covered, the entire budget will be dedicated to giving our crew all the resources they need to shoot an amazing film. Those resources will be distributed between:

Camera Department (including a brilliant Cinematographer)
Lighting Department
Production Sound
Art Department (all the props, set dressing etc!)
Hair / Make-up / Wardrobe
Transportation
Food (avoid a coup by feeding the crew)
Production Insurance

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

The biggest risk to this project is not completing the post production in time to meet the Project Imagination deadline. Because our post production services are being donated by very busy artists - mostly ad industry professionals - there's a risk that one stage or another in our post schedule could be delayed. To protect the project from this kind of setback, we're lining up alternative talent for each stage of post production.
