I've had the good fortune of making a life in music for more than twenty-five years. In that time, I've traced a lot of routes around the world getting to do what I love, connecting with amazing people, and making albums that reflect the growth and change that I've experienced as a musician.
Human Kindness is clearly connected to my previous work, but I think it also reveals forward motion as a writer, player, and producer. It’s an album that is a product of several years of sifting so that I could emphasize the connective tissue between these songs. Some of the tunes have been road tested while some of them will be heard for the first time on this record. Together these songs are a photo album of my journey over the past few years. I’m very excited to be where I am, ready to share this material with all of you.
I'm joined by my long-time band, The Blamethrowers, which includes Dave Adler, Aaron Gardner, Bryan Mir, Carmen Nickerson, and Dave Schoepke. I was also fortunate to bring some of the best players I've come to know as friends to join me in the recording of these songs. Martin Barre of Jethro Tull, the Carpe Diem String Quartet, Paul Cebar, Val McCallum, Peter Mulvey, Randy Sabien, and Natalia Zukerman all bring their unique musical personalities to these songs. Their collective contributions have made it one of the most powerful and fun records I've ever made. This collaborative process has inspired me to have an even stronger musical presence.
The recording, production, and mixing of this project is done. The purpose of this Kickstarter campaign is to raise funds so that we can hire publicists and marketing personnel to help reach a broader audience and give it the kind of push it deserves.
With $30,000 I can bring on top-notch publicists to promote the record in the U.S. and overseas, get more bandwidth from print, radio, and online media, and give the website a facelift. Any funds in excess of the initial goal helps build the longevity of the campaign and extend our push while also allowing me to bring the band out on select tour dates.
Everyone at Weasel Records has put together a group of rewards to thank you for your participation. There is my first vinyl pressing, an exclusive Kickstarter t-shirt, and a beautiful print suitable for framing. There are also some unique experiences and opportunities that I wanted to make sure were available if you are able to participate. If you see something missing, let us know.
Thanks so much for checking in and getting involved; I hope to see you out on the road soon.
Risks and challenges
The music business is not without perils and risks. We intend to hire great people but even the best professionals come up empty handed sometimes. The direct investment in this project may not yield the results we seek, but we will not give up.
I believe in this music and we as a team believe in this recording project. We will work tirelessly to reach a wider audience.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
