Greetings to all my friends and fans. Thank you for your interest in this very exciting opportunity to help fund my 5th recording project!
The days of big record labels supporting musicians are all but gone. Many well-established artists such as myself must turn to their fans, friends, and family to keep the music playing. In my early years I was blessed to be backed by a well-run indie label who helped me build my career and establish a presence on the national and international jazz scene. But in order to maintain a presence musicians have to work hard to remain on the scene, on tour, and on the charts.
I'm excited about making a record centered around the sound of the Hammond B3 organ. For the last 4 years of my 15-year collaboration with swing-bop pianist Dino Losito, Dino has been playing the B3 exclusively. Together we have developed a deep groove with the organ trio sound. On board for the project is sax legend Houston Person, along with hot New York City guitarist Peter Bernstein and one of the most exciting, swingin' young drummers to make the scene, Carmen Intoree.
This project will be a homecoming for me. I owe my jazz chops to the four years I spent as the house singer at Jewels, the great Philadelphia jazz club. The scene in Philly during those years is now recognized as a significant part of organ trio history. Many of the all-time great B3 players came through the club: Richard “Groove “ Holmes, Jack McDuff, Shirley Scott, Joey DeFrancesco…the list goes on and on. My love for the organ trio runs deep.
I'm proud to say all of my CDs have been on the national jazz charts and have been highly acclaimed by major jazz magazines and jazz critics, and have received rave reviews by the top jazz DJs in the world. With your donation we will record in New York City as early as late spring. All donations will go directly to the recording, mixing, and packaging of the CD. I will do as I have done with my last two CDs and take the final product to a well-regarded jazz label for promotion and distribution.
Your contribution will make the magic happen. More importantly, your support of this project will work to preserve and maintain a uniquely American art form: The Jazz Organ Trio!
Thank you so much,
