Written by New York Times Best Selling author Steve Perry and New York Times Best Selling author and Emmy Award Winner Michael Reaves. This movie is Die Hard in a cave! - a never-before-depicted angle on the Action Thriller genre.
A group of jewel thieves have plans to escape via secret underground passages between U.S. and Mexico, but the caper goes sour in the tourist entrance of the infamous CUEVA DEL NOCHE, "Cave of the Night." So they take hostages to insure their escape. One of the hostages is a teenaged girl visiting the cave with her father, a former Army Ranger. Though he's a civilian now, the dad goes after them. Thing is -- he has claustrophobia
Tagline: 25 miles to the border underground. 5 thieves who robbed a jewelry convention... but they took his 16-year-old daughter. He will find them.
OUR 'CAUSE'? 5% of our funds raised on Kickstarter will go towards Bat Conservation. One of the concerns from dedicated cavers is that a movie company may damage or invade off-trail caving environments. Our project is 100% against this selfish direction. There are plenty of great layouts in natural environments where we can shoot our movie, without disrupting an ecosystem. Other than that, we've got a great story. We greatly appreciate your support, but we're no more deserving than any other artists on Kickstarter. We hope you'll pitch in simply because you want to see our film...
WE PROMISE ACTION! VIOLENCE! LAUGHS! And with your help, we'll even blow up a bridge in Las Cruces, New Mexico! But at our story's core, and what will set this film apart from standard genre fare, is a deeply human story about an estranged father mending his past and confronting the thieves who have kidnapped his daughter before sending them to their nightmarish fate.
BECOME A FEATURED EXTRA IN THE BRIDGE EXPLOSION SCENE! And with your help, we'll even blow up a bridge in Las Cruces, New Mexico! That's right... Through Hollywood smoke, mirrors and precision stunt drivers, you can find yourself make-believe catapulted off an exploding bridge of a highway overpass. Your reaction and close-up in the movie could be forever recorded in motion picture history.
THE STARS OF THE DARK ZONE
TIM RUSS has joined the cast of the Dark Zone! He will be playing the role of Detective Jeff Collins. He and Richard Hatch - Actor (Lieutenant Parker) will be partners in the film, helping the lead character from the outside. You may remember Russ from his many roles, including Spaceballs, 5th Passenger, Blade of Honor, NCIS, CSI, Six Gun Savior, and especially his many Star Trek roles - Next Generation, Generations, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Renegades. We hope you are as excited as we are to see Tim and Richard team up as fantastic "buddy cops" in this action thriller!
RICHARD HATCH has sustained recognition in such series as All My Children, The Streets of San Francisco (for which he won Germany's Bravo Award, equivalent to an Emmy Award) and starred as the original Captain Apollo in the original Battlestar Galactica series (for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination). Richard Hatch will play the paternal Lieutenant Dan Parker who feels responsible for the tourists trapped underground, while maintaining a humorous edge throughout the movie.
LILI BORDÁN guest starred in such shows as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and E.R. from 2003 to 2010 and went on to carry leading roles in feature films, such as Kinder Garden, Cherry, and A Love Affair of Sorts. She joined the main cast of Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome in 2011. Lili Bordán will play tough-skinned Sylvia Stanton, the attractive distraction that initiates a jewelry heist. She is the only woman among the jewel thieves who finds herself keeping balance between harsh situations and the promise of the big reward.
MANU INTIRAYMI, also, coincidentally, Manu Intiraymi Fan Page(official) has just joined the cast of the Dark Zone! You remember Manu from his fantastic roles in Star Trek: Voyager, 5th Passenger, One Tree Hill, and Go. Manu will be playing the role of Larry Chambers in the Dark Zone - a likable guy who falls into the temptation of riches and works with some jewel thieves in a big heist. He is also has romantic history with his co-worker Sasha (Fiona Dourif) and lives with the guilt of possibly killing her in the caves. His new romantic interests lie with baddie jewel thief Sylvia Stanton (Lili Bordán), who has lead him on a caper gone awry - well beyond his sense of good versus bad.
JIM HANKS is an award winning actor most recently seen on Dexter, Rake and Robot Chicken and has guest appeared in various shows, such as Scrubs, Jag and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Jim Hanks will play the cool headed ring-leader of the jewel thieves, Klash. It is up to him to keep the motley fools in line and on track to the Mexican border with the loot and hostages in tow. Trouble is - someone's hot on their tail.
BILL MOSELEY is an award winning actor known for The Devil's Rejects, Army of Darkness and Halloween (2007). He picked up cult classic notoriety early on through a series of horror films. Bill Moseley will play ruthless and cunning Platt, the worst of the jewel thieves who has little regard for anyone who gets in his way.
FIONA DOURIF starred in the 2013 Curse of Chucky, where her dad Brad Dourif has been a voice of the horrific chucky doll now since 1988. She’s also known for her work in Deadwood, True Blood, The Master and a new movie called Fear Clinic with Robert England. Fiona Dourif will play the attractive and outdoorsy Sasha Summers who works for the cave and ultimately helps our movie's hero find his way through the "off-trail" caverns to rescue his daughter from the jewel thieves.
ANDREW M. GRAY has joined the cast of The Dark Zone! You may know him as the Red Ranger of Power Rangers Megaforce and he will be playing the role of Bill in our action/thriller film. Bill is a tour guide in the caves when everything goes down. It's a hilarious, sarcastic role and we can't wait to see Andrew nail this character! Please join us in welcoming him to the Dark Zone family!
JOSH SUSSMAN is well trained actor best known for his hilarious and colorful performances on Glee, Josh will be portraying Barnes, a police investigator and computer wizard who is able to process key criminal evidence which leads the detectives towards pegging the bad guys.
MANNY PACQUIAO is interested in playing bad guy Gibson. Though he is deep in training and preparing for his fight with Floyd Mayweather, we are in constant contact with his advisor hammering out the performance contract details. We very much hope and expect to confirm and sign him him in the coming days.

What We're Asking For
The absolute bare minimum we need to make this film a reality. As for ourselves, we're going all-in. Maxing out credit cards, refinancing homes, selling our boats and cashing in retirement accounts. But we need at least another $30K in cash to cover expenses we can't swipe, barter for, or defer.
Accountability and Transparency
We take our responsibilities to our backers as producers very seriously. You are the only reason that any of this is possible and we want to retain your trust in this project and us. Please contact us directly if you have any further questions.
Kickstarter Rewards and Fees
Kickstarter and Amazon take a percentage off the top (close to 10%) and then we have to set money (close to 10% as well) aside to fulfill the all of the rewards at the different level. This means at best we will only be receiving 80% of our goal to make this movie.
THANKS FOR BACKING US!!!

Risks and challenges
There are always risks and challenges when making a film, let alone one with limited resources. There is always the possibility of actors dropping out, unforeseen costs, equipment trouble, etc. We do have a network of talented and professional associates who want to see this film succeed. We already have the camera and lenses, lighting equipment and access to amazing locations. We have a well seasoned Art Director who will help us replicate those location elements where stunts and effects need to be performed. Your generous donation will be spent as we have indicated here, in a very transparent fashion.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
