About
It's a Geek Music Renaissance!
It never ceases to amaze us when we think about how incredibly vast the realm of geek music has become: Filk, Wizard Rock, Dementia, Nerdcore, Time Lord Rock, Video Game Music, Lit Hop, Electro-Pop... the list goes on and on!
We want to celebrate this.
Our goal is to launch the East Coast's most diverse 3-Day Geek Music Festival. We've lined up over 20 talented musicians to make this happen; artists that you already love and some that you're going to be excited to discover for the first time. We're planning 3 stages and over 60 hours of music. There will also be a track of programming that will feature panels with our music guests discussing some incredible topics. It's going to be an amazing weekend!
Who Have We Booked?
Every time that we reach a Goal, we'll release a new group of performers so keep a close eye on this page. When we've raised $7000 we'll announce 3 more guests! Here's our starting tier of artists:
MC Lars
A pioneer in the genre of nerd rap, MC Lars is spreading the geeky gospel of hip-hop with songs about the best classic literature, video games, advancements in tech, social media, and popular culture!

Mikey Mason
Geek. Fanboy. Comedy rock star. Mikey sings about sci-fi, fantasy, comic books, role-playing games, video games, cartoons, and all things geeky.

Misbehavin' Maidens
The Misbehavin' Maidens are a bawdy, nerd-folk comedy band with a love of feminist, sex-positive music, LGBTQIA+ representation, parodies, drinking, and fandom references for the 18+ geek crowd.

Where is This Happening?
The convention will take place in Richmond, Virginia. Our event will be hosted at the Four Points Sheraton on Midlothian Turnpike.
What Will Your Money Be Spent On?
Funds raised will cover performance fees for musicians, our function space, and the purchase/rental of sound equipment and instruments.
Can We Really Pull This Off?
Oh, yes. Our staff has over 13 years experience in hosting conventions. We've been running RavenCon (an annual 1400-person event with over 350 hours of programming and a staff of 40) since 2005 and have worked on several other conventions over the years. We're excited to be bringing our experience to a completely new venture and know that you'll have as much fun attending as we have hosting.
Concert Stickers
Available at the $10 Level (and everything above that!) our concert stickers will be 4"x4" and will be shipped directly to you.

We're still working on the design, but the Concert T-Shirt will be modeled on classic Rock Tour t-shirts with our artwork on the front and the names of all of our $50 (and up) Sponsors listed on the back.

Our Limited Edition Poster will be 12"x18" and is our take on the classic Woodstock Dove & Guitar poster. Donors at the $100 level (and up) will receive one of these posters signed by the performers of RavenConcert 2018.

Risks and challenges
RavenConcert will be a spinoff of our Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror convention RavenCon. Over the past 13 years, we've built a great network of friends in the Geek Music community who we're excited to be featuring at RavenConcert. We already have an experienced staff and a lot of the equipment that we need to host an event.
Bringing in a few dozen entertainers for 3 days is our biggest expense. We want to make sure that even if a group is only performing on Friday, their fans will still have opportunities to meet them the rest of the weekend. We always strive to make our events as interactive as possible.
We'll also need to purchase sound systems that can handle the different types of music that we'll be featuring. Our Technical Director has over 10 years of experience as a touring musician and has already found us the best equipment at the best rates.
