Amelia is a short film about two people with a choice to run from the world or to face it.
Amelia comes from a place where abuse is common. When she decides to fight back she commits an act she can never take back.
This short film is the introduction to her character, which will eventually lead to a feature film detailing the struggles, and the injustices that shaped her into the femme fatale that she is today. She is smart, witty and dangerous with reluctance to give mercy to the men she meets.
This story begins soon after Amelia commits her first act of rebellion. A man enters a cab that she has stolen. In this conversation we learn about her ability to adapt as well as his ability to change. She now has to make the decision to either end his life or let him go.
There are so many terrible things that happen to women in our society that I created a fictional character that is willing to take matters into her own hands.
As a filmmaker, I grew to love films with powerful women. Films like Kill Bill and La Femme Nikita are heavy influences for Amelia’s character. I feel that I have an opportunity to make a great film.

We will be filming on location in New York City from December to February. Casting took place in November along with all pre-production. There are many challenges ahead.
The proposed budget pays for:
1. Renting the Cab in which the film takes place.
2. Permits to film in NYC and other various locations.
3. Equipment rental/studio rental
4. Transportation including truck and van rentals
5. Food for the cast and crew
6. Massive post production work
7. Film festival submissions
So far timing has been the biggest setback. It's a luxury we don't have; getting the crew together and relying on permits to shoot in the city that only allow for a few hours of shooting has been difficult. We also rent a studio which only allows us a limited amount of time to shoot. Continuously renting(equipment/studio space) is possibly the biggest cost in this production other than post work.
It is a privilege to work with such a good group of people dedicated to their craft. This collaboration will be the making of something memorable.
I will be posting updates on production bi-weekly.
This will be my thesis film and my chance to prove my film making skills to YOU: the investor!
