Getting stood up at the altar sucks. Having a leftover dress you spent thousands on is even worse. Did she walk out before the wedding and you can't get your deposit back? Do you have a ring laying around that only brings painful reminders?
Well we want to create a place for that. A website that lists items for sale related to weddings and engagements as well as offers advice and has blogs of just jilted stories. No need to wallow alone. Sell your honeymoon! Sell your wedding venue!
As featured on 7news, we are raising money to hire a web developer to polish our site on justjilted.org. We have a business plan and the domains purchased but we are ready for professional fine tuning.
Not all of the news story is appearing in the video. Please go here to see the entire video http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/front-range/lafayette/lafayette-women-attempt-kickstarter-campaign-to-start-a-business-for-the-jilted
Risks and challenges
Although we have the plans outlined, the domains secured and the business plan prepared, we need a seasoned web developer to verify our website is ready to go and working efficiently. We do not want to launch the site until we are sure it is secure. We do not have enough knowledge of creating a website so we are using the kickstarter money to help us hire someone who is knowledgeable.
A risk of posting here is that someone can create the website with our idea while we are trying to get this off the ground.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
No! We are so thankful. We have heard stories through people in the industry and we are hoping we do not jinx ourselves into our own cancelled weddings in the future!
Maybe a little but it is so much more!! Some wedding venues will allow transfers but not the deposit back. Sometimes there is catered food booked that will not be used but no money will be returned. Instead of sifting through Ebay or Craigslist to see what might be available, why not go to one wedding specific place? In addition... you can find stories about other cancelled weddings, tips on how to handle it, and connections with other people.
We are two women trying to start a self made business off of one great idea! Support the dream and we promise to pay it forward as many ways as possible in the future.
