Feeback Wanted! Also, Unforeseen Incidents!

Posted by Alasdair Beckett-King (Creator)

Who knows if this update will reach anyone in the post-GDPR wasteland. But we must try. We must... keep... going.

ASH (Nelly's publisher) has just released Unforeseen Incidents and I (Alasdair) worked on it! I co-wrote the English dialogue and directed the English voice acting. It's mysterious, and atmospheric and sometimes funny too. And the reviews are looking good.

  • “There is charm to be found in every nook and cranny of Unforeseen Incident’s world.” Kotaku
  • “A great voice cast, distinctive visual style, and intricate puzzle design” 4/5 Very Good - Adventuregamers
  •  “I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve enjoyed a long-form point-and-click adventure this much. It reminds me why I love the genre so much.” Recommended - Rock Paper Shotgun

It's on Steam and GOG (and elsewhere) flipping now.

Terrible Idea?

Now that UI is out in the world, work on the HD remaster of Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! can continue. Which brings me to my latest terrible idea:

Should I record a "Storybook Mode" where I do all the voices? It's not possible to pay actors, and I don't want the real Nelly to suffer my tyrannical Wellesian direction again. Think of it as a director's commentary where I sing along.

What do you reckon? Let me know here or on twitter.

      Storybook Mode sounds great, honestly.

While I rarely replay adventure games, seeing a favorite like Nelly get an remaster could get me to come back to the game. As for commentary or a alternate dub, this would be fun but overall I support whatever leads to green-lighting Nelly 2 or another great AB-K story :)

As for Unforeseen Incidents, the art style isn't my preference, but the location, story, and atmosphere shown in the trailer have me hooked and I'm buying it immediately.

      Yes please. :)

In principle - sure, in practice - uhh, I don't know. I'll be honest, you don't sound that convincing as Nelly. Especially as the real Nelly was superb in the Fowl Fleet. Maybe you could seduce her to do herself, and you all the rest? :)

It might be a terrible idea, but I'd totally play it like that. I suppose it'd be possible to mute for those that don't like it.

      1+ for storybook mode.

Seems like an obvious win. Also congrats for your gig Unforeseen Incidents. Bought the game and will start it very soon.

I vote YES for more Alasdair Beckett-King for the world!

Please, yes, do all of the voices!

I’d certainly enjoy listening to you doing the voices. Gets my vote. Would buy the remaster.

F yeah! [that is "freaking yeah, that sounds like a lark"]

Steam link leads to discussions rather than the store for some reason?

Excited to see a Spoonbeaks remaster, not in the least interested in you doing all the voices.
