The mission was very straightforward—we set out to simplify our lives. With so many things to keep track of, what we needed was a way to carry our essentials in the same place.
What we did was combine quality and utility in a place where it hadn't been done before. What we made was a new kind of wallet.
By using only the finest leather, each Edward Field Wallet breaks-in like your favorite pair of sandals—forming a custom mold and beautiful patina over time. By constructing each wallet with a maniacal attention to detail, your cards and cash can now live in harmony with your smartphone. Between the micro-suction tape that attaches to the phone and the super tough bonded nylon thread that holds it all together, we have achieved convenience and durability. Every wallet is hand made right here in the United States, so we stamp our name with pride.
The Edward Field Wallet is the result of a quest for simplicity. It is the answer to being unsatisfied with what was available. It is the outcome of a lot of hard work, and we'd love nothing more than to make enough of them for everybody.
SPECIAL THANKS TO
Our friend Michael Menninger, the numbers guy in the trenches.
William Desenna and company, who executed the stealthiest production known to man.
Paula Volchok, our fearless graphic designer.
Our friends at Global Leathers, especially Youssef, for being so accommodating when we ransacked their fine establishment with equipment.
And Mark Camper, for putting up with Teddy.
HOW DOES YOUR SUPPORT HELP US?
Kickstarter funds will be used in three crucial areas of large scale production; tooling, materials and labor.
TOOLS:
For large scale production to be viable, we need to invest in tools that make the manufacturing process more efficient. We will need to create several new dies so we can streamline our current factory model.
MATERIALS:
To be able to sell the wallet at such a low cost, we need to buy our materials in bulk—and the highest quality leather in the world comes at a price. A good portion of the funds will be used to secure the leather we need at a viable price.
LABOR:
Since each wallet is handmade in the U.S.A., the cost is higher than the normal overseas production. Everyone working to manufacture this product is given a fair, hourly compensation—a small price to pay for the quality of the results.
Risiken und Herausforderungen
In any manufacturing endeavor, there is always a small degree of risk. But we feel confident in the relationships we've formed on our way toward a complete manufacturing process. It was built piece by piece, the mechanisms are in place and ready to deliver. We have identified challenging obstacles and have planned accordingly.
An equally important factor for us is transparency. You'll be consistently updated with our progress and informed if anything changes.
