Hi, my name is Jim Fairchild.
I played guitar for Grandaddy for eleven years. And I currently tour with Modest Mouse and have my own band called All Smiles.
Which is usually Joe Plummer and I. Danny Seim from Menomena and Lackthereof shows up here and there.
And on the new album thankfully, we've got a little of Gary Jarman, our friend from the Cribs.
We're just about finished with this new album and an EP. They've both been recorded in between tours over the last six months.
In light of shifting fortunes, near and far, we've been as thrifty as we can. This album and EP have been recorded in a closet, a kitchen, a bathroom and storage spaces in San Francisco and Portland. We're really happy with the results. This is our most honest and strongest set of songs yet.
Now that we're close to the end and can hear all the potential in the tunes, we want to bring on different levels of expertise and technical excellence. To get things perfect. Properly glittery and gritty.
So we're asking for a little help.
Mike Cresswell mixed the last All Smiles album and EP. We're going to bring him on to mix these as well, at Different Fur studios here in San Francisco. To get the album mixed, mastered and ready for the world, we need to pay a few bills.
We don't want handouts though; even a small donation gets something in return: music. Larger contributions entitle you to limited-edition, handscreened vinyl versions of the album, special gifts and potentially even a live performance. Maybe sometimes if you purchase a physical item, unreleased songs or drawings might show up in the packages. One never knows. But I do.
All of your eyes and ears are appreciated more than I could express here. Hopefully in the music that appreciation shines through. And maybe even gives us all something to gather around.
If we reach our goals early enough, it's not impossible that some form of new All Smiles music will show up before Christmas.
Thanks for sharing your time and attention.
And take good care.
