Update: Stretch Goals!
We have reached our goal! You guys are awesome! Here are our stretch goals -- it would be so amazing if we got to expand the project!
$12,000 - We will make more game, with more puzzles, more story, more physics, and more stuff to interact with! We will also be able to make the whole game more polished. And, we will develop the game for the Oculus Rift.
$16,000 - We will make a roof level, where the player will get to go out onto the roof of the building. Up on the roof there will be more puzzles and more story, plus a great view of the world beyond the building.
$22,000 - We will make a prequel game that will be unlocked after beating the main game. The prequel will take place in a very different environment, with a very different feel.
Homesick is the first game of our new, independent video game company Lucky Pause. After 10 years as a CG artist for video games, commercials, and film, Barrett Meeker recently launched his own company! We are dedicated to making thoughtful games with super fun puzzles and cutting edge 3D art. We want to make the best looking adventure games ever made!
The money we raise on Kickstarter will help us finish the game! We need your help! Starting this new company is a dream come true, and we need your help to make it happen.
More about the game:
Homesick brings a beautiful 3D world and a first person perspective to the great point-and-click adventure game genre. It’s about time we get some point-and-click puzzles in cutting-edge, beautiful 3D -- that still runs easily on most computers!
Exploring an abandoned building, you are at peace, encountering puzzles and clues, and opening new areas of the building. You seem to have been there so long that direct sunlight is blindingly bright, yet you feel at home. But when you sleep, you are plagued by nightmares, frantically running down hallways chased by darkness, an axe in hand, trying to escape.
You’ll discover the world, yourself, and the meaning of the nightmares, as you try to escape in both your nightmares and the waking world.
The puzzles are hard, yet fair and sensible, and you can explore multiple paths. Featuring an atmospheric and detailed setting, clever puzzles, and a dark nightmare world, Homesick will be an experience you remember.
We are delighted to be working with the very talented and lovely Joy Autumn to create an original score for the game! The score will be included as a digital album.
The game will come out first for PC, but if we end up with interest, we would love to port it to other platforms,
More about us:
Barrett is our creative director. He grew up playing games and computer programming, and was hired out of college to be an artist at Blur Studios in Venice, California. For 9 years he created computer-generated (CG) art for commercials, video games, and film. Along the way he also co-directed the popular short film Grounded, winning awards at film festivals around the world. After 9 years at Blur and 1 year at a video game company, he decided to finally launch his own company.
Morgan is our communications director. By day, she is an attorney with a non-profit organization, and in the evenings and weekends she is helping get the word out about Lucky Pause and our first game.
Argon the dog is our office manager. He is a crazy cute poodle beast, and an excellent office manager because he barks at us if we get out of line. To see more of Argon, check this out.
We are so excited to be doing a kickstarter campaign! We love how people from around the world can work together to support each other’s dreams, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to work with you all to follow our dreams. Thank you for helping us make this game happen -- it means the world to us!
We are a lean mean game-making machine and every contribution counts. If we reach our kickstarter goal, we can finish the game by June. The rewards are all explained on the right. The bigger rewards are super fun -- for example, you can write the contents of a book that will be in the game, or we will put a bust statue in the game that looks like you! You can also write the contents of an advertisement that will be in a newspaper in the game -- ever want to write a personal ad for a special someone? Now is your chance!
Note: the original soundtrack by Joy Autumn will be included as a digital album with each digital download of the game.

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk was the one we already took: Barrett living off his savings to work on the game full time! Barrett has a crazy strong work ethic and is super talented, so we know he will create an imaginative, rich environment filled with great games and gameplay. He worked at Blur Studios for 9 years, and a video game studio for 1 year (and has played video games since he was a kid); from these experiences he learned a ton about how to produce outstanding art and how to successfully design a game. So while working on this game full time was a big risk, we think it was worth taking.
Another risk is that the adventure game genre is relatively small. But we are confident that this game is a great contribution to the genre -- we hope to create the most beautiful 3D adventure game ever made!
And, of course, there is the risk that we won’t raise enough money on kickstarter. But you guys can help us out with this one . . .
The game will be for sale as a download directly on our company site, indie game portals, and hopefully Steam (if we get greenlit). All donors will receive a free copy -- either through Steam (if we get greenlit) or a direct copy.
Yes, we are currently planning on supporting the major 3D technologies.
The game will come out first for PC, but if people really like the game (we hope so!), we would love to port it to other platforms, such as Linux, Android, Mac, ipad, iphone, and possibly PS3 as we have a bit of experience with it.
