The Burlington Writers Workshop (BWW) wants to publish an anthology of the best work we've seen in the past few years. We need $3200.
The BWW is open to anyone in the community. We don't exclude anyone from attending our meetings.
Only writers who have attended at least one group meeting can submit work to this anthology, which means this is going to be filled with "locally-grown" literature, written by rising stars in the local literature community. Want to submit? Come to a meeting! (Find more information on meetup.com if you want to attend one.)
This 128-page anthology will contain original fiction, nonfiction and poetry that has not been published elsewhere.
The anthology will be designed by us and printed by Thomson Shore, which produces poetry books by the respected poetry press, Alice James Books.
We need $2100.52 to print it, plus an estimated $200 for shipping, $125 for ISBNs, $250 for marketing, plus extra for the fundraising fees. Our goal is $3200, which will be just enough to create this book. These numbers are flexible by necessity, since quotes can change, and shipping varies, but we guarantee we will make this anthology happen with at least $3200.
Anything extra will be used to add pages, print more copies, or buy needed software, and we could use extra!
If we earn enough to hold a launch party, all contributors to this fundraising effort will be invited!
Risks and challenges
We're already accepting submissions for this project, with full faith in the community that we will raise enough money to make this happen.
So far we've learned to edit video and we'll soon be learning how to use page design software.
The difficult part will be marketing the finished product. We will sell copies by word of mouth, but we'd like to convince bookstores to carry this anthology on shelves.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
