About

Blood Shed motors is the Birthplace of the Zombie222

                                  Super Electric Muscle Car.....

At Blood Shed Motors,

We had a vision of blending cutting edge electric power with iconic classic muscle cars to create Electric Super Muscle Cars branded as Zombies. We did it. The Zombie 222 is the first and is shaking things up in the automotive performance world. Quicker than every super car in the world with a 0-60 time of 1.94 seconds and recently setting a new top speed record for electric street cars at the Texas Mile of 174.2 MPH, this electric Mustang is a monster on the road.

Third party test drive of the Zombie 222 by Autoblog Translogic. Jonathan beats it like a dog and loves it.

This video from the Verge tells the story better than we ever could.

We recently set a new official time for the Zombie 222 while racing a brand new Tesla  P85D. 10.24 seconds at 140.8 MPH.

We have received numerous requests from folks wanting to help us keep pushing to become the first electric street car to break the magic 200 MPH number.   We will do this in the Zombie 222, an all electric, fully street legal, vintage American Muscle car.  After showing the world our mojo at the Texas Mile, folks believe this is the team to show the world what electric power and American muscle can do together.

That inspired us to turn to the car loving public for sponsorship through Kickstarter to make history!  Going above 200 MPH is not only technically challenging, but darn expensive.  We need your help.

We commit to leave it all on the track to set this record.  We will push this car till the motors melt if that is what it takes. Literally.

800hp and 1800lb.ft. of torque

Our slogan at the Blood Shed is "it'll leave a mark" and that is exactly what we will do. We will also use the money to ensure that this is captured in video both inside and outside the car.

Help us change the 222 from 2 motors, 2 controllers and 2 damn fast......to 2 motors, 2 controllers and 200+ MPH

We’re a team that is committed to producing the baddest, coolest, fastest vintage muscle cars in the world...all electric, all the time.

Mitch Medford: Entrepreneur - CEO

High-tech executive who loves bad-to-the-bone vintage muscle cars, but loves innovation even more. A guy who believes that you can have the best of both worlds by pulling together the right team to infuse today's advances in electric propulsion with the legendary muscle cars of the past. He has personally restored a number of cars in the past along with designing and building The Blood Shed, a 4000 sq. ft. shop specifically created with this vision in mind.

The link below brings you to the build thread. In addition to the build story, you can enjoy amusing anecdotes of his life long battle with spiders and jugo de diablo (what he calls electricity).

John Wayland: Legendary Electric Car Drag Racer

John pioneered and developed an electric car that became the world's quickest street car. The WHITE ZOMBIE. A real street car, John took a 72' Datsun 1200, installed twin electric motors and some of the most powerful Lithium Ion batteries in the world. The White Zombie has been recorded going 0 to 60 in 1.8 seconds. That is quicker that the world's most expensive production super car, the Bugatti. John has terrorized gas-powered cars around numerous drag strips, humbling even the most powerful gas-swilling monsters. John co-founded NEDRA (National Electric Drag Racing Association) and served as NEDRA's first President.

Allen Koester: Master Mechanic and Owner of Austin Electric

Allen has worked on cars his whole life and not only shares our love of cool cars, but also operates a commercial electric company. What a perfect fit. Allen deals with massive electric delivery systems by day and is a master mechanic by night. He also can drive the heck out anything. We know because the tires on our cars always seem to wear out too fast. Hmmm....

Jack LaPenta: High Tech Everything

Jack is a gadget freak with a background in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering. He's one of those folks you meet who seem to know everything about electronics, AV systems, networking, wireless video but also can enhance and improve anything electronic that he gets his hands on. You should see his remote video drone. Join us, and you will.

Risks and challenges

The biggest challenges in order of importance (not if you ask my wife) will be aerodynamics, propulsion and safety.

Aerodynamics - We are committed to keeping the Zombie 222 a street machine so when it comes to aerodynamics we are going to focus on small changes to basically just keep the car on the ground where it belongs. We will use brute force to push past 200MPH, not slipperiness. That would require turning the Zombie 222 in a special purpose race car instead of a street car and that's not the goal. We will use some of funds to actually test the car in a wind tunnel. Next we have to fabricate what is needed to leverage what we learn in the tunnel.

Propulsion - We need to invest heavily in this area since this where the "brute force" comes from to push past 200 MPH. We will rework the motors to handle more voltage and possibly introduce something called field weakening to expand the torque range further up the RPM band. Next comes batteries. We already have a monster racing pack, but we need to make it even more powerful. We will add more high power cells in parallel to give the pack more amps and "stiffen" the voltage to push harder. We will need to rework the gearing to keep the zombie lower in the RPM bands. That will mean more overdrive. Propulsion and drive train will be a large part of the expense.

Safety - This is dangerous, period. 1968 Mustang was NEVER built to go anywhere near as fast as we have taken it, much less over 200 MPH, but here are things we can do to improve survivability in the event of a crash. 6 point cage is not only smart, but required to even try 200 mph in a an event like the Texas mile. However, the Zombie is beautiful machine so we would want to build the roll cage to be as unobtrusive as possible. This means using chrome poly metal with removable side bars for easy egress and top of the line welding talent. Hans device for head and neck safety. Full fire suppression. Top of the line safety driver gear like fire suit, parachute etc.
