About this project
If you're anything like me, you definitely watched the video before you read this. And if you haven't... I can only imagine that you don't have a very good internet connection? I mean seriously, these days when you go on a news site, the video at the top of the article usually says everything in the article below. It's not even about not wanting to read or being lazy at that point, it just doesn't make sense to read first without even checking the video. Anyway, with that being said, I'll add just a few more details rather than restating the whole thing.
My name's Chris, I'm a writer and stand up comedian... just kidding.
You're probably wondering a few questions: "Why do you need my money?" Well, my eyes are bigger than my wallet. Three months ago I was working a decent job. And by decent, I mean the pay, that's it. I was comfortable. And in the field I was in, I had achieved a notable position for someone my age. But I was miserable. Absolutely miserable. And after only 4 months of employment with that particular company, I decided money just wasn't enough to make me happy. So I quit. And since then, I've been tenaciously chasing what you might call my "dreams." But it sure as shit isn't easy. I've done just about everything I can to facilitate my passion, including move out of my apartment and onto the couches of several hospitable friends and members of family.
However, it's not enough. To really make it requires a bigger step, a bigger leap of faith. And this is mine, and also that of what is collectively known as "i2i media." Pat the filmmaker is putting school on hold altogether to make this happen. He's done so based on the belief that while a classroom can teach you the technical aspect of things, there's little that can give you an eye for a good story, and that's what he's chasing now.
This could perhaps be called what is affectionately known as a "promo tour," which always requires an initial investment. My investment has already been, and continues to be, everything. What we are seeking with this source of funding is nothing more than an amount that will aid us. We could not travel for two months and accomplish what we would like to on this money alone (probably somewhat obviously.) And we certainly cannot produce a quality film on this budget alone. However, we are deliberately keeping this fund at a lower amount, to show you that we are all the way invested, and that this surely shall not be a hand out. I thank you in advance for any and all support. Any amount helps. With or without the success of this fund, we are going to find a way to make this documentary happen. Your donation merely ensures that I will not get stuck in New York with no way to get back.
Risks and challenges
Risks? Did I mention getting stranded in New York?
Well for starters we're taking my car (barring a miracle donation). So I'm going to give a 50% likelihood that it breaks down at some point. We've budgeted ourselves at the bare minimum for just about everything; food, shelter, alcohol ( =[ ) It seems likely that in some instances we may be obligated to spend more than we want to. I'm sure I don't have to over explain, but we are not naive to the fact that on a two month road trip, problems are simply bound to arise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
