Kelley Darcey was a normal little girl... until one fateful night, she unleashed an ancient curse from the fabled Witch of Silent Valley... After many years of paranormal hauntings and nightmares, the curse is coming closer to pass allowing the Witch to keep her promise... her return, and there’s only one person who stands in her way who knows the secret to her destruction. The only hope she has is a spiritual Native Shaman named John who helps her prepare for the battle of her life against all hope before the curse is fulfilled and the Witch rises again! Dream team cast and crew members now join Director Don Ranow to bring you a chilling story of good versus evil.
“One of my goals is to reinvent the character of the Witch... to take the character away from the traditional accounts like in ”Hocus Pocus” or “The Wizard Of Oz”, or even “The Blair Witch Project”, and to really breath new life and character into an relatively unkown monster that she could be, and to bring that to the screen in a fresh, action packed horror film that will thrill and entertain.” --Screenwriter/Director DON RANOW
The film delivers the best ensemble cast, nail biting action and chilling horror moments, and spectacular stunts and Special Effects that will leave the audience wanting more. “The Silent Darkness: Rise of the Witch” delivers a quality story and high production value in a period of Hollywood remakes and reboots, and provides a fresh new horror film for the big screen.
“This film breaks all the rules of Independent Filmmaking taught by the film schools, and that is never have more than two or three locations and one or two good actors, and forget about stunts or special effects... Well we say ... not us! This film is jammed packed with a very talented ensemble cast... many locations... high action stunts... and mind blowing special Visual Effects, all filmed with the best professional crew of filmmakers, artists, technicians, and craftsman available!”
We are a group of passionate experienced filmmakers, actors, artists, technicians, and craftsmen assembled together to make this film EPIC! Our team comes from a variety of backgrounds and experiences in Motion Pictures. We have a high regard for high production values, an entertaining story, and executing our plan with a high degree of professionalism and efficiency, all to deliver the best horror film for everyone!
This fall, THE SILENT DARKNESS: RISE OF THE WITCH will go into Principle Photography and will be shooting for approximately 33 days. Our film includes a large amount of stunts and Visual FX to compliment a very action packed story. We currently have several channels of Distribution available to us once the film is complete, including a theatrical run in theatres.
THE SILENT DARKNESS: RISE OF THE WITCH has attracted many professional crew members and actors for one reason... it is a fresh new tale of horror featuring a new reinvented monstor character, the Witch. Don Ranow set out to reinvent this character much of the same way Stephanie Myers recreated the Vampires in the Twilight Saga from traditional Vampires. Also the film offers many challenges that were just too appetizing for our professional team to not want to tackle, such as Special Effects Makeup, Stunts, Visual Effects sequences too mind blowing to believe we’re going to shoot, and the level of talent the cast will have to bring to their roles to bring the characters to life.
In writing the screenplay for “The Silent Darkness: Rise of the Witch”, Don Ranow envisioned a story that would be action packed, filled with humor with a dash of love story mixed in... full of drama and above all, be scary! Films that were inspiring for this formula were:
* THE MUMMY * ALIENS
* POLETERGEIST * VAN HELSING (2004)
We’re campaigning here because we all feel strongly about this film and it’s potential! The money we raise here on Kickstarter is in addition to the Private Investors and other sources that have contributed to this project, but we need more funds to make this film a reality! The more we have, the higher production value we can give this film, especially in Post Production. And it’s a great way to get others across the world involved in this film and to pro- mote it! In as much as we need every- one’s financial support, we also need an audience to insure this film is seen and appreciated by everyone!
