****UPDATE! PLEASE READ****
We completed the BASIC GOAL of 75K so we will be able to put out a short 5-6 song album. For this we are incredibly thankful!
BUT WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP!
We have got a lot of messages asking if they should still donate so we wanted to make sure people understand this is the bare minimum for a short album.
Ideally we need to hit the Main Goal of 125K so Mike can put out a full length album.
If you scroll down there is a section that outlines the goals and all the budget information! Any questions please let us know!

My name is Mike Yung and I am a subway singer from New York City. I was signed to RCA at 14, then T.Electric with the likes of Etta James and Luther Vandross. The label went bankrupt and I never got my debut album out. I've spent the past 38 years in the subway busking and making a living while supporting a family in the projects of Brownsville. With your help, at 58 years old, I hope to release my debut album "Never Give Up"

First Original Song:
Mike wrote and released his first-ever original song on January 15, 2018. We all hope this is able to give donors a taste of what could come if Mike had a fully funded studio album.
"I wrote this song to remind people to keep pushing through bad times. Sometimes things feel as if there is no hope but just remember everything will eventually pass and eventually everything will be alright " - Mike
Mike's story is one filled with beauty and darkness. For the past 37 years he's been waking up in Brownsville NY which is considered the most dangerous project in all of Brooklyn. He rides an hour and half each way into the city to busk in the subways in order to support a family. With people carrying less and less cash these days, he makes an average of $40 per day. He usually sings for 3-4 hours or until his voice goes out. Lately he's been getting more hugs than tips. Mike has been stabbed 9 times and jumped by gangs over the years, but none of this has proven enough to stop him from chasing his dreams.
My name is Danny and I am Mike's current manager. I am a partner in an artist management company representing a roster of musicians signed to major labels. After taking the viral video of Mike in Sept 2016 and hearing his incredible voice and story, my partners and I decided we would do everything we could to take Mike out of the subway.
To date we've gotten some incredibly successful and experienced music professionals involved. Some of the team members include Paradigm (Pollstar Booking Agency of the Year) and an veteran music business manager.
Brutal Reality: Nothing will change without an album.
While the agents book the shows and the business managers oversee the finances, there is nothing they can do without an album. Mike has an incredible voice, but he hasn't been given a shot yet. And this is where we need your help.
We have been funding this project with our own money since meeting Mike. After a little over a year, we ran out of money last August after he got voted off America's Got Talent. But sometimes the universe works in your favor and we had a few gigs pop up here and there that allowed us to buy more time (thanks to his exposure from America's Got Talent). Even with more time, nobody has raised their hand to sign Mike to a record deal.
We are now on our final attempt to get this album out and are relying on his fans to fund this album. To be brutally honest... everything is riding on this kickstarter. We need your help.
The dream is to reach the documentary goal. It would allow us to not only fund an album, but pursue a full length documentary focusing on Mike's life and journey to his debut album. We understand this is an enormous amount of money, but anything money raised past our initial goal of 75k helps us continue efforts to make the best possible album and documentary for Mike.
Please see the budget at the bottom for a complete breakdown of the costs and how the money will be used.

BREAKDOWN OF COSTS:
All the expenses outlayed below are typically financed by a record label. The money will be monitored and strictly spent with Mike’s management team, business manager, and consulting ARs
Note: Based on our experiences and knowledge, these will be the costs projected to create the *full length album* consisting of 10-12 songs.
Recording Studio Costs: $30,000
Total studio time: 6 months (April -Sept)
Besides paying producers, this portion of the budget is usually the most expensive. The cost to rent a quality studio plus a quality engineer will cost $500 per day. If only a "short album" is funded, this amount will be cut in half.
Producer Fees: $5,000 per song
Established music producers cost anywhere from $10,000 - $30,000+We’ve gotten interest from some incredibly successful producers that have decided to get behind Mike at a massive discounted rate given his situation. The total amount spent on this will depend whether a "short album" or full album is funded.
Mixing and Mastering Costs: $1,250 per song
Mixing is the step before mastering that involves adjusting and combining individual tracks together to form a stereo audio file after mixdown. The stereo file is then mastered, which ensures that the various songs are clearly polished and form a cohesive whole on an album.
Advance for Mike Yung: $12,000
Please Note: This is the only portion of money that Mike will be receiving from the kickstarter directly.
He will be given $2,000 per month to pay his bills and rent for the home his family is living in while he is devoting his time to working on the album from April - September (6 months total)
Travel Budget: $6,000
This will be used for all travel expenses for everyone involved in the album process (this mainly includes producers, songwriters, consulting AR’s, etc)
Merch Budget: $5,000
This will be used to create and hold inventory for Mike Yung merchandise (T-shirts, Hoodies, Hats, etc).
Reach Goal Costs
These are the costs if we are able to get enough funding for the reach goals. While we can still produce an album without this, it would give us the initial funds we need to start marketing this album and hire a publicist for Mike.
Full Marketing Campaign: $40,000
- PR: $25,000 We’ve taken calls with some of the best PR companies in the world and they are willing to take Mike on as a client. The cost of working with these companies will cost us $5,000 per month for a 5-6 month campaign.
- Music Videos: $15,000
Estimated Album Release Date:
The creative process is one that is unpredictable and full of trail and error. We could end up completing this in half the time or be delayed a few months past our anticipated release date. We will be keeping all donors fully updated with the progress of the album.
~* Thank you for taking the time to read this kickstarter*~
We are happy to answer any and all questions you may have. If you would like to get involved and have ideas outside of kickstarter, feel free to contact us. We will be actively checking

Every project comes with its own unique risks and challenges, especially in the music industry.
