Two Weeks Strait is a documentary short following Mark Correia's journey to set a world record and raise awareness about Parkinson's Disease by spending two weeks strapped in a regulation straitjacket.
The main focus of the film is the major fundraising stunt "Escaping Parkinson's" that completed in 2014; for two weeks without breaks, Mark lived strapped in a straitjacket in order to outline the difficulty of living with such a physically constricting disease. Over the course of this stunt, Mark raised $15,000 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation to contribute to their efforts to find a cure for the disease. Awareness about the disease was raised with an estimated 31 million people tuning into the stunt worldwide. Michael J Fox also personally gave his support to my project, therefore further spreading the impact of the stunt. Mark was only eighteen.
This documentary aims to not only tell the story of Escaping Parkinson's, but the story of those still living with Parkinson’s. Mark was able to escape his restraints. For people living with Parkinson’s, there is still no escape.
The documentary will be a combination of footage from Mark's time in the jacket, as well as newly recorded interviews with the stunt's team, and people currently living with Parkinson’s who will share their experience of the disease.
Funding will go towards transporting the crew to New York City to film the final act of the film, paying an animator to creatively outline the effects of Parkinson's and paying the artist's and crew.

Risks and challenges
There are always challenges when producing a movie. Funding falls through, locations back out and editing can take longer than expected.
Your generous donations ensure that we stick to our schedule and complete each stage efficiently and on time.
We have applied for a number of grants from the government as well as confirmed funding from private donors. The producers do not use any of the money to pay themselves. Every dollar raised goes directly towards production or post-production.
We promise to be as cost effective as possible while working on this independent film. It was the director's goal to tell the untold story of being strapped in a straitjacket for half a month, but we now have the bigger duty of shining a light on the effects of Parkinson's disease. We will honour the commitment to those stories first and foremost.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
