'Bad Penguin' is an animated feature intended for the mature audience. Imagine if Bugs Bunny and Quentin Tarantino had a child...
Bad Penguin tells the story of Cooper, a blind jazz musician who befriends an angry, armed-to-the-teeth penguin that wishes to show Clover City how it feels about Christmas. In a world where a man’s life is worth less than the change in his pockets, can a blind man teach the bird that people and Christmas are both worthwhile?
Once upon a time, in a far away land, cartoons were drawn by hand. Teams of artists painstakingly illustrated cartoons frame-by-frame, creating lavish worlds and colors only previously seen in imagination. In today's computer world, this craft is all but forgotten.
The Animaticus Foundation was founded by British Academy Award winning animator and author, Tony White. It’s mission: the preservation of the art of traditional 2D animation, and training for new animators just starting in the field.
Our foundation is now working on its first feature-length animation, Bad Penguin.
Though a cartoon, Bad Penguin is intended for a mature audience. Sex, drugs, violence and bigotry are all harsh realities in Bad Penguin's world. Plus killer jazz music! Imagine if Quentin Tarantino and Bugs Bunny had a child...
We've got the tools at the ready: a 5 star script from an award-winning screenwriter, and talent from a team of top animation professionals, poised to make a trailer with the quality of Disney, and the sensibilities of Pulp Fiction.
We just need funding to make it happen.
Your donations will do more than fund a trailer. Tony White has also committed to using these funds to complete all character designs, the storyboards and production of the soundtrack. And, once the trailer is complete, he has pledged to start work on the feature, gathering together a number of industry professionals and their most promising students. Of course, if the trailer attracts the attention that we think it will, the movie will be completed even quicker.
While we estimate the project to run $20,000, we ask for a more realistic $12,000.
Any additional funding over our goal will be used to extend the trailer, making it longer, louder and more penguin-y.
So why should you help us out?
* Your donation is TAX DEDUCTABLE! The Animaticus Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization;
* We plan to bring in promising young talent for the film... re-establishing an apprenticeship opportunity that's been sorely missing since the days of Walt Disney;
* For everyone who donates, we’ll provide a downloadable link to the high-def file when it’s finished;
* If pledges pass $20K, we'll set aside a portion of net proceeds to donate to the Penguin House at the Wildlife Conservation Society of New York (aka: The Bronx Zoo);
* Our rewards are really cool!
So please pledge to the Bad Penguin project - and give mindless G-rated animation The Bird.

The following is a 3D model of Cooper, done by one of Tony White's students, Gerritt Perkins. This does not mean that we have changed our minds regarding this project and producing it on a computer. BAD PENGUIN will definitely be hand drawn!
Using 3D models is a way to keep the characters uniform when they are drawn by different illustrators.
Pretty cool, eh?
