Last One In, A Modular Zombie Card Game
Last one in is a 2-4 player, zombie themed card game, where players race to save civilians or flood their opponent's town with zombies!
Welcome To The Zombie Apocalypse!
LAST ONE IN is a zombie survival card game, where players compete to rescue civilians, while flooding their opponent's town with zombies.
In LAST ONE IN everyone plays both Zombies and Civilians. The winner is the first player to rescue 50 civilians or inflict 100 zombies on their opponent. There are tons of special effect cards to confound your opponent too.
LAST ONE IN is a Modular Card Game. This means Booster Packs* and Expansion Sets** can be added to alter game-play. But because new cards are shuffled into the main deck, everyone gets to play them!
*Booster Packs will added to rewards, if the relevant stretch goals are reached. **A Boxed Expansion Set will be our next Kickstarter Campaign after this one.
What The Players Think:
“Can't wait to buy a set - my teenager was immediately hooked “
“Very quick and easy to learn and the artwork is cool. Had a lot of fun playing this game”
“artwork is great, game-play looks fluid, designed and backed up by some very passionate people“
Please note that the cards shown below are examples. The final cards will have unique art, representing the number of Zombies or Civilians shown in the top-right icons.
Avid gamer Mark Taylor, wanted to create his own card-game for a long time. He was looking for an idea with the fun and balance of a board game, which retained the competitiveness of card games, but no “pay to win” elements.
Back in early 2016, Mark came up with LAST ONE IN, after (don't laugh) a dream about running demonstrations of the game, complete with a clear sense of how the game would work! I guess all that time thinking about game ideas had percolated through his brain, presenting itself to his sleeping mind as a near complete game!
Mark transformed his idea into text-only cards and began play-testing the game with his partner Janine West.
Mark and Janine refined the mechanics, while Janine fleshed out the game-world and back-story, as well as contributing special-effect-card ideas.
By mid 2016 it was time to start playing the game with more people. The Yellow Book bar in Brighton provided a great venue via its weekly game nights.
On one such night, Mark met illustrator, Aaron Howdle. After a couple of games with the text-only cards, Aaron realized he had to be involved! He immediately set about producing artwork for the game.
The team produced a demo deck and began touring gaming events and shops. After hundreds of fun filled hours, LAST ONE IN has finely honed rules and beautifully balanced game-play.
Pick up the core game, and you have everything you need to play the game repeatedly and enjoyably! But LAST ONE IN, is also a modular card game. By purchasing Expansion Packs, you can modify the game, and since new cards are shuffled into the main decks no-one gets over-powered advantages, preserving a satisfying mix of skill, luck and strategy.
We can’t wait to get LAST ONE IN out to our backers! And fulfill our dream of seeing it on the shelves, and most importantly in the hands of players!
Risks and challenges
It is very important to us that LAST ONE IN is produced to an excellent quality standard.
With this in mind, we have lined-up one of Europe's best games manufacturers to produce LAST ONE IN.
We will do our very best to ship the LAST ONE IN on time, and have invested considerable time getting everything in place for a smooth release. However, sometimes there are small mistakes on artwork or a manufacturing error is noticed when checking proofs.
If we are faced with a choice of releasing the game with some flaws or achieving the highest possible production quality, then we will go for quality every time, and this may cause a slight delay in shipping.
Prior to his career in Illustration, Aaron Howdle spent nearly a decade working in Product Design and Manufacturing, on many of the world's largest brands. He brings this experience and knowledge to LAST ONE IN.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
