Awesome update. Since Ethernet has 4 pairs, would it be possible to run two separate audio feeds through the same cable or would that cause too much interference?
I would love to be able to use the Ethernet port by my couch to power my two surround speakers.
In answer to Ronson's question below:
Please note that your speakers have to be self-powered, whether internally of via a stereo. It's the same idea as not being able to power band speakers off of an ipod.
That being said, just plug an audio source into one Ethernet jack and your stereo or self-powered speakers into any other Ethernet jack. The audio signal will arrive at your stereo as if you had plugged it into the stereo directly.
