OUR STORY
Our concept of a whole food rest stop was birthed from the frustration of personal travel. We realized we were passing through rich and beautiful parts of our great country, but we were not able to taste or capture the essence of those regions. After having children, we were even more acutely aware of the need to provide a healthy choice for those traveling on the highway. We want to be the oasis of your travels by providing cuisine that nourishes and restores. To accomplish this we will be diligent to make sure that each item we select to serve is in its purest form. Every ingredient has been meticulously shepherded from the farm to your palate.

We are located at the halfway point between Connecticut and the Carolinas on Highway 15 in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. In 2013 Gettysburg was one of the top three tourist locations in the world. On average, Gettysburg National Military Park draws over 1.2 million visitors a year. Gettysburg is a community rich in history and abounding in natural beauty. Our goal is to take the best of the distinct local attributes and develop them into a healthy eatery. We are a husband and wife functional pottery team. We share not only a passion for art, but also for exquisite food. Junko’s mother was a chef instructor, and I grew up in a bakery. I was nine years old when I started my first fruit stand. For the last ten years, my pretty wife and I have operated our successful Ceramic Gallery and seven-days-a-week Farmers Market. Running our fruit stand has allowed us to develop relationships with 27 different local farmers. They do an amazing job of supporting our effort to make the bounty of Adams County available to the explorers passing through. Our first giant step forward has been to secure a location on US 15 and Taneytown Road. In 2013, we successfully ran a test market at this location. We have a building that needs to be reappointed inside and out.

The goal is to have a fully equipped kitchen in the back and a café in the front. The full kitchen will make it possible for us to transition from a café to a restaurant to a complete rest stop with greater ease. This is the first step in our journey.
WHERE DO YOU COME IN?
- Support! We appreciate every dollar you give but the most important thing you can do is find a friend and spread the word about what we are trying to do.
- In order to make this dream a reality we need funds. Every dollar counts and we could hardly express our gratitude for anything you can give.
WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?
- First and foremost to the restoration of our building.
- Fire security and exhaust systems.
- Establishing the kitchen.

Risks and challenges
With our core staff, we can maintain our existing business and open the café. However, as business picks up, quality staffing could become an issue. We have planned to meet this need through a process of volunteering that will transition efficient workers into paid positions.
Along with this concern, we also face the common risks that go along with any enterprise. We are confident that although complications may arise we have the tools and the faith in God to tackle every difficulty.
