About this project
JUICE + ICE
JUICE + ICE is a collection of photography by John Alexander Holland and Heather Marie Pineda. The images serve as a visual memoir, documenting their journeys and experiences, how they relate to each other as friends and how they relate to the world around them. In life there are experiences too powerful to let pass with time, John and Heather use photography as means of holding on to these transcendences.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Heather and John met and grew up in Interlochen, MI, a town surrounded by lakes, forests, trailer parks, and unfinished motels, usually forgotten but always left standing. They spent most of their time driving through the night, through fields and through towns, each one smaller than the last, always searching for what they knew wasn't there. They left Michigan and moved on to bigger places- cities with buildings, fast cars and shining lights. No matter where they were, they always found a river bank for walking or a place to watch the sun setting, orange and pink over oceans of water, oceans of smog, or oceans of people.
WHERE YOUR $ GO
The proposed funding will go towards new equipment, printing and publishing costs. JUICE + ICE will be an approximately 40-50 page linen bound hardcover book. The first edition is limited to 20 copies.
Risks and challenges
We have partnered with an experienced independent publisher of artist books in Montreal. This partnership allows us to focus primarily on curating, digitizing and designing our project. Aside from fundraising shortfalls, we have the utmost confidence that JUICE + ICE will be a powerful and rare experience.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
