This project is to support Revolver Studios in adding an aerial program to their studio.
We want to add an aerial program to our offerings because...
1) We want to offer more ways for people to express themselves through movement.
We know the value and benefits of movement, performing arts, and self-expression. Movement holds the ability to inspire, empower, and heal. We watch our students grow in profound ways from engaging in movement; whether it's dance, fitness, or otherwise. They are inspired to express and tap into their creativity. They are empowered to step outside their comfort zones and to truly believe in themselves. It's the #1 reason we do the work we do; because it changes people's lives.
2) We will provide something needed in the aerial arts world (and the world in general); body-positivity.
The unfortunate truth is that many studios/facilties in the world are not providing a body-positive environment at all; or claim to be but are lacking the knowledge, intention and deep commitment to do so.
We recognize that many bodies have been entirely left out when it comes to dance, fitness, and aerial movement spaces. We recognize that many bodies have felt like a burden, and even unsafe in dance, fitness, and aerial movement spaces.
This is simply not okay. So we're changing it.
Revolver Studios is founded upon creating space where ALL people, ALL bodies, and ALL levels can enjoy movement. Our team is always learning & growing. Each staff member is trained to meet you where you're at with compassion, encouragement, and kindness; always using body-positive language and teaching methods. This applies to our students as well, we work to maintain a culture of inclusivity and support amongst everyone who steps through our doors.
3) We believe in the St Cloud community and want to see it grow.
Revolver Studios owner, Scarlette Revolver, is dedicated to elevating arts and culture in the St. Cloud area. Scarlette is a small business owner, avid supporter of downtown, and an active community member lending support to as many projects, events, and fellow artists/entrepreneurs as possible. Scarlette often gets asked why she chose to set up shop here in St. Cloud, rather than Minneapolis or another larger city.
It's because she believes in watering the grass in her own backyard first, and she believes deeply in St. Cloud's potential. Scarlette knows that growing her business in the St. Cloud community will help boost the local economy and provide more unique experiences in the downtown area. The aerial program at Revolver Studios will also create more opportunities for dance and performing arts to grow and thrive in the area. Scarlette wants more people to experience the many incredible locally-owned businesses and blossoming arts community St Cloud has to offer. She knows Revolver Studios will add yet another reason for people to visit and discover what a special community St. Cloud truly is.
4) You asked!
Both Scarlette and Nicole's clients have been asking for YEARS when we're going to bring our brand of aerial classes to St Cloud...so we're finally making it happen!
5) It's fun as hell, ya'll.
I mean, enough said. Aerial is really, super fun. And we like fun. We like fun the MOST.
The only way we'll accomplish this project is with YOUR help.
Our budget for the project is as follows...
Professional Rigging ... $600
Apparatuses ... $800
Hardware ... $800
Mats ... $1,000
Marketing ... $1,000
Kickstarter Fees, backer rewards, shipping, etc ... $300
We will be bringing in a highly trained and experienced professional rigger to install four rigs to ensure optimum safety and proper protocol. The apparatuses are the aerial fabrics themselves and all the necessary hardware to go along with them. Of course mats are essential for safety as well. We chose to add on a marketing budget because we need to make sure people KNOW who we are and what we are offering! Scarlette is experienced and proficient in marketing. She has created a detailed marketing plan utilizing social media, special events, radio, and other marketing services that will be executed over a six month time span. The remaining balance will help support kickstarter fees, cost of backer rewards, and any other miscellaneous cost associated with the project.
Our timeline is as follows...
June 30 - July 31: Kickstarter Campaign
Aug 1 - Aug 30: Renovate studio space and install rigging
September 5: Grand Re-Opening
September 7: Aerial Classes Begin
Nov 1: All backer rewards delivered
Risks and challenges
Risks and challenges of the project may include not reaching our funding goal. The only way we can complete the project is through the support of this kickstarter campaign. We are going to work super hard in the 30 days of the campaign to be sure we reach our goal. We are hosting a kickstarter launch party with a goal of getting at least $1,000 in support the first night. We are reaching out to local media to ask them to cover the project. We are offering to do our best friends laundry for a month in exhange for them backing the project. We're going ALL IN, folks.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
