The Total Party Kill Handbook Volume 2 brings twenty deadly encounters, filled with cunning foes, devious traps, and devastating environmental hazards. Every encounter is designed from the ground up to make a straight-up fight a bad idea. Your players will have to think tactically, react swiftly to changing situations, and fight like a team if they want to make it out alive. If they don't, they'll soon learn why it's called the Total Party Kill Handbook.
The world's most dangerous DM, Grant Ellis, is lending a hand to develop one of the book's encounters. If you've seen any of Grant's impressive array of livestreamed games, you know that means it's going to be brutal.
Half of these encounters are already written, including Attack of the Mechagoblin which you can check out right now to get your first look at the wonders that await in the Total Party Kill Handbook Volume 2.
On top of the twenty encounters, you'll find the Hazard Workshop at the back of the book. Continuing the tradition of including a new set of DM Tools, the Hazard Workshop provides a library of interesting terrain features mundane and magical you can drop in to take your encounters to the next level. Here's a taste of what you'll find:
- Pyros Empyrea - Radiant flames that can be bonded to a weapon by force of will, giving it a temporary boost in power. Failing to bond the flames to a weapon results in spontaneous combustion.
- Necrosis Flies - A buzzing swarm of stinging insects with a supernaturally quick lifecycle. Any creature that dies in the cloud is quickly filled with eggs that hatch on the next round, spreading the swarm.
- Weeping Muck - Thick, cloying mud that emits hallucinogenic fumes. Some variants are highly flammable, cast spells with care.
Like the Trap Compendium, if we reach our Stretch Goals we'll turn the Hazard Workshop into a full softcover book, the Hazard Compendium, with a system designed from the ground up for building any kind of terrain you can imagine.
In addition to making a new book, we're also using this opportunity to reprint the first Total Party Kill Handbook, now called Volume 1. We've overhauled the formatting and given the writing a tune-up to make this the best version of the book yet.
If you already own the first Total Party Kill Handbook, we’ll send the updated, re-formatted PDF for free. Reach out to us via our website’s contact page (https://www.2cgaming.com/contact.html) once the project is complete and we’ll set you up!
There aren't any substantial content changes, just updates to improve clarity, ease of use, and fix typos. Digital PDFs of the Total Party Kill Handbook Volume 1 will be distributed through BackerKit, and you'll get access to them soon after it launches, typically two to three weeks after the Kickstarter campaign concludes. Physical copies will ship alongside the Total Party Kill Handbook Volume 2 so you don't have to pay for shipping twice.
The reward tiers for this project offer the full range of choices between digital PDFs or physical hardcover copies of one Total Party Kill Handbook or both. You’ll also have the option to go above and beyond in supporting us to get your favorite character written or illustrated into the book!
At this level, you're supporting us because you like to see passionate creators pursue their dreams. You'll receive all the updates as we work on the book, and can enjoy seeing it come together behind the scenes! This tier also gives you access to Backerkit, where you can update your pledge after the Kickstarter concludes, pick up some add-ons, and enjoy the 10% discount on other 2CGaming products.
If you're a tech-savvy DM, and you're looking for the latest PDF of deadly encounters to bring to the digital table, look no further. At this tier you'll receive a digital PDF copy of either the Total Party Kill Handbook Volume 1 or Volume 2. You'll make your choice through BackerKit after the Kickstarter's successful conclusion.
Your players haven't seen the threats that await in the Total Party Kill Handbook, and you want to hit 'em with both barrels. At this level you get digital PDF copies of both Total Party Kill Handbooks, Volume 1 and Volume 2.
Get your choice of Total Party Kill Handbook Volume 1 or Volume 2 in full-color hardcover, along with a digital PDF of the same book!
Just like the previous tier, you'll get one book in physical, hardcover glory, along with a digital PDF of that book, and you get to immortalize your favorite D&D character in print for all to see! We'll reach out to you to get a description of your character, and then incorporate them into the book either written into one of the encounters or included as part of an illustration!
Fair warning, your character might show up on the wrong end of a dragon's breath weapon.
Double the books, double the fun. Get both Total Party Kill Handbooks, Volume 1 and Volume 2, in full-color hardcover, plus the digital PDFs. Forty-five deadly encounters to push your players to their limits!
Get both books, both PDFs, and we'll add your favorite character to the book! We'll reach out to you to get a description of your character, and then incorporate them into the book either written into one of the encounters or included as part of an illustration!
We make no guarantees that your character will be winning whatever fight they're in.
Our first set of stretch goals are pure content. More encounters, complete with artwork, a battlemap, and all the deadly denizens you've come to expect from the Total Party Kill Handbook.
If we blow past those and bring the book up to 25 total encounters, we'll be ready to expand the Hazard Workshop into its own 80 page softcover, the Hazard Compendium! If we reach that stretch goal, we'll unlock the Hazard Compendium as an add-on item! You'll be able to pick up a digital PDF for $10, or a softcover physical copy for $15, which you can add to your pledge through BackerKit.
Our printer has print facilities all around the world, including Europe, and Australia, so all the books that we print and ship as part of the Kickstarter will be printed & shipped regionally, rather than internationally, saving you a ton of money on both shipping and customs. In most areas, fulfillment will be handled through Amazon, and in areas where Amazon doesn't offer that service (such as Australia), we'll make alternate arrangements. Shipping fees will be collected through Backerkit after the Kickstarter campaign ends. Here are our estimated shipping costs based on a 3 lb. book:
- United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Other EU, Australia/NZ - $7
- Everywhere else - $25
Because we're still a small company, we can't afford to keep our books warehoused internationally, so this low shipping rate is only available as part of this Kickstarter, as well as for any books pre-ordered before the book's release. This method, while it saves you a lot of money, takes longer for us to arrange and execute, so expect a long fulfillment process after we release the digital PDFs.
After the Total Party Kill Handbook Volume 2 is released, all books will be shipped from our HQ in the U.S., meaning international shipping will be close to the $25 listed above.
If you pledge for one PDF and decide you want both, don't worry! You'll be able to add additional PDFs and physical copies of the Total Party Kill Handbook to your pledge through BackerKit after the Kickstarter's successful conclusion. Additionally, you can pick up copies of 2CGaming's other books through Backerkit at a 10% discount.
If we unlock the Hazard Compendium stretch goal, you can pick up a digital PDF or softcover physical copy of that book through Backerkit as well.
Brand new to this Kickstarter campaign is the first set of 2CGaming merchandise! If you liked the shirts, dice bags, totes, and DM screen in the video for this project, you can get them for yourself! Merchandise will be available through Backerkit.
For $20 you can pick up an Epic Player or Epic Game Master shirt featuring some of the awe-inspiring art from the Epic Legacy Core Rulebook. $20 also gets you a Dice Bag + 11 piece dice set with an extra d20 and three more d6s, or for the same price, you can grab a stylish Tote Bag to carry your precious cargo of books to your next game.
For $15 you can pick up the four panel DM Screen to show your players you're ready to throw down with the strongest characters they have. The back is full of useful reference material for conditions, spellcasting, and other important rules of the game.
The Total Party Kill Handbook Volume 2 will be written by Steven Gordon (author of the first Total Party Kill Handbook, the Trap Compendium, and Tyrants & Hellions), with the project managed by Jon Kelly, 2CGaming's resident business wizard.
Grant Ellis is contributing an encounter to the book, and it's sure to be a deadly one. Grant Ellis earned the titles of The World’s Most Dangerous Dungeon Master and the “The Bad Boy of D&D” through his fearsome reputation at game conventions around the country and through-out the Twitch universe. He acts as a creative consultant to broadcasters and content creators across the globe.

Risks and challenges
2CGaming has now successfully delivered on four Kickstarters: the Total Party Kill Handbook, Domes of Ishaq-Zahur, City of Sands, and Tyrants & Hellions. We are currently in development on three previously-funded Kickstarters: Lion's Vault, the Epic Legacy Core Rulebook, and the Total Party Kill Bestiary. While there is overlap between the teams, the bulk of the work (writing & art) remains distinct, as do the project timelines.
Distinct from these, we've also published six additional titles, alongside dozens of small projects on Patreon & DM's Guild. We've learned a lot along the way, and with the bulk of the writing work already done, this project should be easy. Even so, we've built in room for error in our timelines, so that even if if we face unexpected delays, you'll still get your book by January 2019.
As with all Kickstarters, the possibility of unforeseen complications exists. 2CGaming has a proven record of keeping lines of communication open and active to ensure our backers are made aware of any such incidents.
As always, questions/comments/concerns are appreciated. You can reach out to us with any specific concerns you may have about this project via our Website or chat directly with us via Discord. Links are provided below.
