The Total Party Kill Handbook is a Game Master’s aide, containing twenty-five encounters and a Trap Workshop full of dangerous obstacles designed for use with your favorite fifth edition roleplaying game. Clocking in at close to 150 pages, The Total Party Kill Handbook has enough content to keep even seasoned adventurers busy.

Each of the encounters is ready-to-run; including beautiful maps, dangerous monsters, fiendish puzzles, and bountiful treasure. Whether you need a memorable boss fight at the end of a dungeon, a random encounter more engaging than 2d6 goblins, or just a little inspiration to help you design your own masterwork challenge, The Total Party Kill Handbook will help your campaign level up.

The encounters included in The Total Party Kill Handbook span the full range of character levels from 1 to 20, and each includes scaling guidelines and suggestions for altering the challenge for higher or lower level adventurers. More than just stat blocks and a grid, you get notes on monster tactics, reminders about which rules are likely to come up during play, and suggested reactions to common (or uncommon) actions the players may take. Each encounter includes a number of helpful tags covering appropriate terrain types for the encounter to take place in as well as which types of characters will do well in the challenge, and which types will struggle.

Backers at The Storyteller level and above can submit their ideas for deadly encounters to The Pool of Challenges, and backers at The Adventurer level and above get to vote on their favorites! The top five will be selected for inclusion in the finished Total Party Kill Handbook. If your idea is selected, we'll list you in the credits, and sign your copy of the book!

Beyond the encounters, you also get The Trap Workshop. A new way to build traps for the 5th Edition game, The Trap Workshop contains a broad selection of types, triggers, and modifiers to help you build traps that are both exciting (for you) and terrifying (for your players). 

How does it work? 

You start by picking from the list of trap types, which range from simple pit traps or projectiles to complex moving floor systems and clouds of gas with multiple effects. Each of these types is scaled by party level, with damage and difficulty checks figured out for you. Then, you select a triggering mechanism, anything from the typical tripwire to the more unusual trap that goes off if anyone speaks louder than a whisper. Finally, you can add modifiers to your contraption, including encounter changing terrain effects, illusions to confound your players, as well as a collection of effects designed to split the party, for when you really want to push your players.

On top of that, the book includes several example traps with a bit more flair than your typical swinging blades. You can look forward to reading about The Early Retirement, The Used-to-be-an-Adventurer-Like-You, and the mad wizard’s favorite, The Spellctacular Finisher. The challenges in this book aren’t designed to require lucky dice rolls or optimized characters; they are designed instead to challenge the players to think critically, work as a team, and react to the unexpected. They reward good planning, preparation, and generally doing something other than drawing their weapons and charging at the first thing they see.

 The Trap Compendium -- UNLOCKED at $15,500

We've reached our first stretch goal! Great thanks to all of our awesome backers! As such, The Trap Compendium is now available as an Add-On for $10 (digital PDF) or $15 (physical softcover). The Trap Compendium will contain 50 unique traps, each more devious than the last, totaling close to 80 pages. We'll design these traps using the mechanisms from The Trap Workshop portion of The Total Party Kill Handbook, and include additional supplements to The Trap Workshop's creation process. 

If you select the physical copy of The Trap Compendium and have already pledged at a level that includes a physical copy of The Total Party Kill Handbook, you've already covered shipping costs! We'll just slip The Trap Compendium in with your Total Party Kill Handbook, and both will ship together. If you have not pledged at a level that includes shipping costs, but want a physical copy of The Trap Compendium, we will get in touch with you after the Kickstarter Campaign has concluded to talk shipping, and you can expect it to cost approximately the same as shipping for The Total Party Kill Handbook. Of course, if you want a digital PDF copy, you don't have to worry about shipping at all.

The TPK Adventure Module -- $22,000

If we reach $22,000 in total funding, we’ll unlock an official Total Party Kill Adventure Module as an Add-On for $15 (digital PDF) or $20 (physical softcover). The official TPK Adventure Module will combine a selection of the encounters from the Total Party Kill Handbook with all-new content and a cohesive narrative, giving you a fully-fledged story with memorable encounters from start to finish that showcases the amazing encounters from The Total Party Kill Handbook in a standalone adventure format.

We have a number of Add-Ons available for backers. Steven Gordon, author of The Total Party Kill Primer and longtime professional Dungeon Master, will be the primary Author for The Total Party Kill Handbook (and The Trap Compendium). While neither raised by wolves nor orphaned as the result of an orc attack, he has been rolling dice and delving dungeons since elementary school, and made it four years before his first character death.

Nolan N. Nasser, a freelance illustrator and concept artist from Grand Rapids, began working in the gaming industry roughly two years ago as the artist for TCGplayer’s MaxPoint Author Tokens. Now his works spans as far as clients such as Greater Than Games and recently, 2CGaming. Reveling in the idea of creating characters and developing worlds his passion for stories and gaming fuels his passion for art.

Ambrose H. Hoilman is a freelance illustrator from Western North Carolina. He has been working as a freelance illustrator full time for the last two years. For almost a decade before that, he worked as an illustrator and graphics specialists for a cultural resource management company.

A longtime tabletop gamer, Ambrose acted as one of the primary artists for The Total Party Kill Primer and will continue his work on The Total Party Kill Handbook and any stretch goals we hit!

Jon Kelly, founder of 2CGaming, performs shady back-ally deals with artists, authors, and corporate partners that often end in blood-pacts and strange extra-geometrical tattoos. No one knows his role on 2CGaming's projects, but it is rumored that he does just enough of everything to keep the ship sailing.

About 33% of the overall project's funding is coming directly from 2CGaming. This project is very important to us; this covers the majority of the content creation and living expenses for those on our full-time team during the duration of the project. The rest of the funding comes from you!

Risks and challenges

Steven Gordon, the author of this book, is a Professional GM with over a decade of experience creating material for tabletop RPGs. Nolan Nasser, the art director for the project is both skilled and reliable and has worked with 2CGaming for nearly a year now. Everyone on the 2CGaming team brings years of experience to the table, and most importantly, we are all passionate about creating and delivering the best product we can. We've done our homework on formatting, printing, and distribution. All that remains is the funding to make it happen.

We're a new company, and this is our first KickStarter campaign. While it is not our first time producing a tabletop product that combines writing, art, formatting, and physical production, The Total Party Kill Handbook is our most ambitious project yet. We want to work with you to make it the best it can be. We've done the math to work out what we need to cover expenses and make sure that if this project is funded, we can deliver the finished product by our release date.

Open communication is the key to crowdfunding, and we'll be releasing updates both during and after the KickStarter campaign to keep you informed about what's going on behind the scenes at 2CGaming.
