Hello backers! Here's the current development status for City of Sands:
Writing of the project is taking longer than our initial estimates. Last month we said we wanted to finish the writing by the end of April. Act 2 is very nearly done, and the Act is underway. This won't delay delivery of the module to you, you'll still get the digital copies in June, but it will likely be late June rather than early. Physical copies will arrive 2-3 weeks after the module is complete, which matches our delivery estimate of July. It's very important to us that we keep you informed about our development process. We want the module be the best it can be and that means we're spending more time on it. An extra pass of editing and revision will make sure the module is easy to run and fun to play.
Natalie has been hard at work bringing the citizens and adversaries of Archensheen to life! From merchants to mercenaries and everything in between, you'll find a token for every major player and enemy the party will run into in the City of Sands.
We have two new pieces by Jason showcasing two very different sides of Archensheen.
The Ruling Council is made up of representatives from the major factions of Archensheen. Its membership is constantly shifting, with members new and old trying to shape the council to their advantage.
On the other side of the city, the Thieves' Guild of Archensheen works tirelessly to undermine the restrictive efforts of the Ruling Council. They believe that too many restrictions stifles trade, and that a city like Archensheen depends on free trade to survive. Your players are going to be making friends (or enemies) with these and many other factions during their time in Archensheen.
Kole has finished the second track for City of Sands, titled Wyverns & Warlocks! This one underscores combat in Archensheen, with hints of backalley brawls, assassination attempts, and all out war. Conflict in the City of Sands takes many forms. Here's a one-minute preview of the song:
The Lion's Vault
Because we beat our funding goal for City of Sands, we were able to get Ambrose started on the cover art for the next module, The Lion's Vault. As usual, he did an amazing job!
For now, we're keeping very quiet on plot details for the next module. But rest assured, you'll see plenty of foreshadowing in City of Sands about what's to come in the rest of the Adventure Path!
That's our May update, when next you hear from us it will be to announce a more specific delivery date in June for the Digital module, and our estimated printing and shipping dates for the physical versions!
