The City of Sands adventure module starts where the Domes of Ishaq-Zahur leaves off, sending a party of heroes from the peril of the desert tombs to the streets of the sandy metropolis, Archensheen. There the players will find themselves caught in the middle of a fierce struggle for political power and ancient artifacts as factions from all across the city vie for control of relics from the Nartheneen's glory days. Choosing a side may make more enemies than it does friends, but can the heroes survive if they choose to stand alone?
Featuring an easy-to-use faction system, the City of Sands will make Archensheen come alive before your players, as powers, both public and private, react to their actions. You'll also find investigation rules that force your players to decide how they allocate their time and resources, focusing on reliable methods or taking high risks for high rewards as they try to sift truth from lies. Both systems have been built from the ground up for this module, designed to be easy to use and just as much fun for the Dungeon Master as they are for the players.
This 80+ page adventure supports both the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, and will take a party of 7th level characters in either system to 9th level over 10 to 12 sessions of play. It is intended to be run following the previous module, the Domes of Ishaq-Zahur, but the city of Archensheen and the factions therein can be dropped into your existing game with minimal effort.
As our previous module in this series, we have a Deluxe Version available, which includes digital assets that will save you prep time and make it easier to run this module at your table or on a virtual tabletop online. The Deluxe Version includes: high-resolution encounter and world maps, objects, creature tokens, music, and handouts.
Braving the depths of the Domes of Ishaq-Zahur, you emerged triumphant, scepter in hand. Jorvis Nesros, the archaeologist who sent you on this risky errand, is eager to return the scepter to the university at Archensheen for proper study, but given the challenges involved in acquiring it... perhaps he could use an escort.
Betrayal lurks around every corner in the sandy streets of Archensheen, and the shadows of the many market stalls are as much a cloak to conceal new threats as they are shelter from the sun. The arrival of Ishaq-Zahur's scepter is the just the spark this city needs to ignite the powder keg of tensions between its many factions. Adapt to the challenge and you might just leave the City of Sands alive.
This module wouldn't exist without the support you gave to the Domes of Ishaq Zahur, and since we reached some of our stretch goals during that project, parts of the City of Sands have been completed already! The cover art and main theme is finished, and work has already begun on the tokens and some of the interior illustrations. To make sure the City of Sands is a worthy successor, we're getting the team that brought you the Domes of Ishaq-Zahur back together to provide:
- Encounter Maps. Glorious full-color encounter maps created by the legendary Tommi Salama (tommisalama.com) who has done magnificent work with 2CGaming and other great companies like Kobold Press, Adventure a Week, and Rite Publishing.
- An Organized Product. John Cason (jcasondesign.com) is back, and will be working with 2CGaming to bring you an optimal layout and professional feel.
- Brilliant Artwork. Jason Strutz (strutzillustration.com) returns to provide his masterful pen to the project, bringing the images and story to life.
- Stunning Music. New to The City of Sands project is the music of Kole Hicks (http://www.kolemusician.com/), his cinematic score sets the mood, perfectly encapsulating the streets of Archensheen.

$17,500 - Fate of the Forebears - Part 3: The Lion's Vault
Archensheen will never be the same. The balance of power has shifted, perhaps permanently, and the true stakes of the struggle are becoming clear. The party will have to leave Archensheen in search of answers, once again braving the perilous desert and facing off against a foe more powerful than any they've met before. What they uncover in the Lion's Vault could change the world.
$20,000 - Fate of the Forebears - Player's Guide
At this stretch goal, we'll produce the foundation of the Player's Guide, giving you a set of six brand new backgrounds for player characters that are specific to the setting of the Fate of the Forebears. If unlocked, the Player's Guide will be available as a free download for everyone. Additional funding will unlock expansions for the Player's Guide, adding a new archetype for each class, more backgrounds, and new spells and magic items.
MORE TO COME ...
The positive response to the Domes of Ishaq-Zahur and your support of this module means we're going to push forward with our plans to make this a proper Adventure Path. We'll return to Kickstarter to raise the funds we need to build it, one module at a time. The full Adventure Path is expected to be six modules long, and to start at 5th level with the Domes of Ishaq-Zahur and run all the way up to 17th level. All the modules in the series will be available for both 5th Edition and Pathfinder game systems.
Writing & Story
Jon Kelly and Steven Gordon compose the writing and story team return to continue the adventure in the City of Sands. With decades of Tabletop RPG experience from both sides of the table between them, the module could not be in better hands.

Still young, but growing steadily, 2CGaming has a strong history of producing supplements and stories for 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder game systems. Our other recent projects include:
Risks and challenges
This project is very similar in scope to the Domes of Ishaq-Zahur, which we successfully delivered. This time it should be even easier, because we've established a routine with the art and design team, and because the team doesn't overlap with our team for other projects, The City of Sands will have their full attention during its production cycle.
Just like the Domes of Ishaq-Zahur, our distribution medium is 100% digital, avoiding the time and cost of print and shipping. We *will* make print copies available on our website when the project completes, but our goal is to provide you, the backers, with immediate satisfaction! We'll be working through Backerkit to ease the shipping and fulfillment process for both digital and physical rewards.
Taking what we learned from The Domes of Ishaq-Zahur, we've further refined our estimations of total project cost. We always put product quality above all else, and if the project doesn't meet our standards with the funding we receive from this Kickstarter, we'll foot the extra bill to bring it to the level it needs to be.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
