The Blackfeather Chronicles are an adventure series about an unusual family of archaeologists in the Victorian era of a fantastic world, who contend with the supernatural on a regular basis. Their adventures are chronicled in ebook via this link. If you'd rather have a book to hold in your hands, to take along on the train, or give to a friend or a child, the rewards on this project are meant for just that. At $5 you get a .pdf of the complete illustrated book 3 of the ongoing series, at $20 you get both books 1 and 2, and the rewards above that are better and better, featuring original art from the series, art commissions, a handmade cloak, custom tea blends, and limited edition handcrafted pendants.
My goal with this project is to introduce more readers to the Blackfeather Chronicles, and to fund the printing of book three, The Tembelaka Voyage. All funds after Kickstarter and Amazon fees, and a fair fee to my awesome layout guy Ryan, will go directly to printing the pulp paperback on wind energy produced 30% PCW recycled paper. Did I mention it's also tree free? If funding goes over my goal, I'll do a bigger, more economical print run, along with reward boosts.
UPDATE: We're funded! Hurrah!
Time for a Stretch Goal! If we get to a grand total of $3500, just 1k over our original goal, we can print the short story collection The Cambriol Riddle and other stories. It will contain three stories, one never before seen! The novella The Cambriol Riddle and the short story A Shandorian Journey are illustrated by Asher Dumonchelle. A Shandorian Journey is written by my longtime friend and writing collaborator Jessica Van Oort. The third story, The Castle's Mysteries, is illustrated by me. They will all be bound up in a tidy paperback book with black and white illustrations, and available as a book choice option for anyone who has pledged for a book. (Anything above $5 includes this option) And yes, of course they will be printed on recycled, wind energy produced paper, because I am me.
Want even more? At $4000 book one, The Alarna Affair, will be made into a downloadable audiobook! At $4500, book two, The Germhacht Episode will get one made as well, and at $5000 book three- The Tembelaka Voyage- will also get an audio book!
Here's the good stuff!
Risks and challenges
The book is complete, as are the illustrations, layout is underway and the printer is ready for us; so only the usual shipping delays, natural disasters, and unforeseen hiccups in the shipping process can stop us now.
If I meet the stretch goals there is more work yet to do. One short story needs to be finished, and its illustrations completed. I will also need to paint a cover illustration for The Cambriol Riddle. Then it will all go to layout and then the printers. Doing that and the audio books will take time beyond the reward delivery goal of July 2016, so if the stretch goals are met, the additional material may arrive as long as 6-8 months later than the rest. Whatever happens, I will mail the initial, non-stretch rewards as scheduled in July.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
