The Southeast's premier interactive festival celebrating digital innovation, creativity & the knowledge economy.

Hello Friends,

My first "kickstarter" was a Yamaha YZ-80 I received on my 9th birthday. That spitfire ride set me free, sparking a personal revolution and inspiring more creative "license" than my parents or the neighbors still care to imagine.

Today, along with a brilliant group of supporters, we are kickstarting a regional revolution, the DIG SOUTH Interactive Festival.

DIG SOUTH is a celebration of creativity, digital innovation and the 21st-century Southeastern knowledge economy. It will be held next April 12-14, 2013 in magnificent Charleston, S.C.

Our goal is to be as successful as Austin's SXSW and Portland's new XOXO, but we need you to support this Kickstarter Campaign to make it happen.

Do so today, and you not only get a first-rate interactive festival, but also exclusive offers, guaranteed admission, and sweet, early-bird pricing.

But, you have fewer than 45 days to get the deal.

DIG SOUTH will gather digital strategists, software designers, startups, investors, marketers, big thinkers, musicians, artists, comedians, authors, publishers, entrepreneurs and everyone using the Web to make a living for one brilliant weekend. You have nothing to lose and a better-paying, more creative job to gain.

DIG SOUTH IS 3 PARTS:

Conference (Sat–Sun)
Talks, workshops and cool sessions from creative technologists and innovators from around the Southeast and across the U.S. Picture a variety of interactive presentation styles designed to get you in the mix.

Expo (Sat–Sun)
A tech and creative industry tradeshow in a festival atmosphere with a curated list of the region's best digital, non-profit and creative scenes, sharing and selling their work, with food & beverage and live entertainment in the DIG SOUTH Emporium.

Sideshow (Fri–Sat)
A series of creative events around Charleston, including live music, comedy improv, after parties, craft beer and tastings.

What rewards do I get for joining the Kickstarter campaign?

1. FESTIVAL PASSES. You will get the early-bird price and save money at every ticket level. Tickets are limited and will not last long.

1. FOUNDER STATUS: You will forever be listed as a "founder" of DIG SOUTH and get exclusive offers.

3. FUN MERCH & TICKETS FOR GIFTS. If you can't make it to the festival, we will send you a cool t-shirt and a box of goodies from our presenters. Tickets also make great gifts.

4. YOU WILL LAUNCH the finest interactive festival dedicated to celebrating the Southeastern knowledge economy thereby supporting high-wage, innovative jobs.

Why do we need you now?

DIG SOUTH has fabulous host facilities, national presenters and a hip array of events and opportunities. But, we need you to get on board early so we can make this the smartest, biggest interactive festival on the East Coast. We can't compete with SXSW and XOXO without your help.

Early support will enable us to:

1. Support more, high-level presenters.
2. Boost live music, comedy and entertainment offerings.
3. Broaden the festival footprint to create opportunities for more after parties, networking events and other surprises.

Charleston is a beautiful, dynamic place for DIG SOUTH — it's the world’s top destination and the epicenter of culture in the Southeast. It’s also a hotbed of new technology and entrepreneurship where the quality of life (QOL) is unmatched. This is an excellent way to mix creativity, business and pleasure in a vibrant, hip city – and April is a perfect 75-80 degrees.

Conference Description

At the College of Charleston Arena in the heart of the peninsula, we'll host more than 25 sessions and interactive workshops over 2 days with more than 85 brilliant presenters. Confirmed speakers include leading innovators from AOL Ventures, CNN Interational & Headline News, Coca-Cola, ReverbNation, Embee Mobile, Digitas, Levelwing, SPARC, BoomTown, PeopleMatter, Blue Acorn, Benefitfocus, Lunch & Recess, On Ideas, Moxley Production Group, OPower, Good Done Great, Look-Listen, Kaledeiscope Youth & Family Marketing, Creative Coast and many more entrepreneurs, startups and spectacular creatives. The lineup continues to grow, so look for big-named additions soon.

Expo Description

On the main court of the arena, around the concourse and in the side gym, we’re bringing a large, curated group of exhibitors from Charleston, the Southeast and across the U.S. to show you the latest. Outside, the expo rocks on with several of our favorite vendors from the exquisite Charleston food scene, including food trucks, caterers and other fine samplings. We're still reaching out to exhibitors and making the schedule, and we'll announce the expo lineup as it's confirmed.

Sideshow Description

We’re taking the electric energy and inspiration behind the conference and expo over to the Charleston Music Hall and into some of the finest and funkiest select venues on the peninsula. Catch comedy improv, live music, film screenings, craft beers, after parties and much more. This is the keenest way to experience the best of Charleston, to explore the city and surrounding areas, and to hook up with brilliant people from your own backyard and across the U.S. Look for Sideshow updates as the schedule comes together.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

Due to our generous partners and strong advisory committee (digsouth.com), festival planning is off to an excellent start. There are always big hurdles to launching a major festival - selling tickets in a tough economy, competing with the many events that occur in Charleston throughout the year, and convincing national vendors to join the expo - but we are prepared to handle them. Members of our team have directed international conferences, coordinated operations for Piccolo Spoleto, lead major marketing initiatives and directed sales for a successful publishing company. You can find us on LinkedIn. We also have an outstanding production sponsor, PDA (pdastage.com), on board and have partnered with the Charleston Regional Development Alliance and the Charleston Digital Corridor. Yes, we have some big challenges, but, we are up to the task and, with your help, are ready to launch the Southeast's premier interactive festival in Charleston, S.C. Visit digsouth.com to see our site and learn about the planning team and advisory committee.
