Second Stretch Goal: UPGRADES

Posted by Dean Trippe (Creator)

As of yesterday, all donor rewards of $15 dollars or above will be receiving HARDCOVER editions of the book.

Thank you all so much for the outpouring of support for this project, to put my autobiographical comic, Something Terrible, into print. I am so happy to be able to offer this additional value for all physical orders, and because we reached it, I want to make this print edition even more special. So:

If we reach the second stretch goal, SEVERAL things will happen:

1. The print edition will include a new four-page epilogue, about my life since making Something Terrible public last fall. I've been working on a couple of new pages, but I have an idea that'd work better at four to five, so if we hit this goal, I'll go ahead and expand it to at least four. Believe me, if you've been a part of sharing this story, you'll want this to be a part of the book.

2. I will be able to hire Hannah Nance Partlow to design the physical edition of Something Terrible. I don't know if you know about book design, but there are a lot of elements that require careful thinking, and Hannah is absolutely brilliant at it. You may recognize her name from the digital edition. She designed the hand-made text logo for Something Terrible, perfectly complementing the cover illustration. This edition will look more beautiful, more professional, and more wonderful with Hannah on board.

3. Every physical edition donor level, from $15 and up will receive a free color print of the cover, suitable for framing alongside the small "You'll Be Safe Here" print already included at some donor levels.

Okay, so those are all the things I've wanted to do, and having this additional funding will make them all super doable. I really don't know what I'll be able to offer next, if we hit this goal. At 60K I'll get bat tattoos on my forearms? You'll be able to enjoy those forever, just like me, right?

Thank you so much for pushing this campaign so far above the initial goal. I'm completely overwhelmed and with less than three weeks to go, I'm getting incredibly pumped to place this order and get these much more impressive editions rolling out. Thanks so much for sharing my story with others, and for sharing your stories with me.

I feel like we're all in a massive crossover event, and it all turns out rad. Secret Inner Wars: Crises Averted in Infinite Lives.

Watch for my signal: <3

      Count me in.
      If the project makes it to $60k then I pledge that Dean Trippe and Alex Bell will get Batman tattoos.

      Book upgrades are always nice. Onwards and upwards.

      @Jeff Troutman:

      Unfortunately, due to Kickstarter guidelines I am not able to promise that I will be doing that. You'll just have to guess whether or not that was my plan already. ;)

      Hmm, stretch goals. I can't say I need anything else; I'm just happy this is doing so well. Maybe increase the print run and donate copies to libraries or other orgs of Dean's choice?

      Would you consider making con appearances as stretch goals? Like whenever you get enough to justify taking off that time from work, paying for travel and hotel and food and whatnot, you get an artist's alley table at blankcon?

      I would personally love to see you at C2E2 or Wizard World sometime.

      @Lonnie Mann:

      I considered it, but I think that would take away from the specialness of the You'll Be Safe Here splash page. The new epilogue will include at least one color page.

      I'm glad this project is doing so well.

      I think the single spot color really complements the mood of the book.. but you could consider making a really high stretch goal the possibility of doing a full-color version of the comic? Might be unrealistic, due to the amount of work, but your full-color illustrations are so lovely and vibrant.

      DEAL. Anyone else want to join our pact?

      If you get to 60k, I'll get a batman tattoo too! Yay x

      If all crossover events were as awesome as this one has become and is becoming, I would actually buy them!
