Koe Alpha 4 is now live!

Hey guys!

Koe Alpha 4 is now live, the largest part of this update is something we call the Midworld, but there's a whole bunch of exciting new things- including a wholly redisgned interactive intro scene when you start a new game. Like all our Alpha update posts, this will be pretty short so we don't give too much away, we just want you to play!

If you are downloading through the humble store, then the identifier you are looking for is V0_4u. This is currently processing on our Humble dashboard and should be available within the hour.

The Midworld

This place isn't actually called the Midworld because that's super cheesy, we won't give the actual name just yet because spoilers, you'll know why it's called this once you enter this area.

Our focus with this semi-dungeon is interactivity, especially puzzle-solving using world objects. There's also a new way of encountering monsters in the Midworld area that you get to near the start of the new beta (your save will carry over to this new version)

New intro

The introduction of the game was redesigned because there isn't a whole lot to do at the beginning of the game besides walk around, which isn't an issue in an RPG like this, but we wanted to establish a theme, along with the core language element for Koe from the get-go, so this is what we made.

Experimentalness probably not a word but here goes a few new things we're trying out. The big one being head Avatars for the fantasy world players. Not all characters have these implemented just yet, but the majority of the main characters will. We should have pretty much everyone by the next build. Let us know what you think!

Parity between fantasy and real-world outfit states was an issue that is also now addressed.

The game goes further than what we've mentioned here, keep going!

That's all for this time, sorry for the delay over the weekend, we had two issues in a row that ended up stacking up on each-other but have now been resolved. We'll post the OSX and Linux versions by the end of the week.

      Just don't make dialog box be on top of avatar. I still would think having a few options to choose for dialog background might be nice: Final Fantasy blue dialog boxes (avatar background would also be blue).
