GDPR, timelines & release date calculation

Hey guys!

Firstly, we'd like to get the less important (but potentially very costly to us) thing out of the way- that pesky privacy policy update we need to let you know about. New EU guidelines mean that we need to confirm if you still want to be contacted by us, and Kickstarter will have already sent you a privacy policy update outlining how they use your information. Stawberry Games doesn't collect information about you, nor do any of our applications including Koe. However, some of you who backed the game through Humble store or Paypal receive emails directly from us. These email will no longer be sent, and we instead ask you to click the "Follow Along!" button at the top of out Kickstarter page for updates, you may also follow along through social media, Facebook here, or Twitter here. It's much easier for us to keep a single notification system for updates, and Kickstarter updates have always been how we provide progress information to you.

Now that's out of the way, let's move on to something we get asked about a lot- when will Koe be released? In the past, we've been hesitant to give a release date because of fairness to you- we run into an issue, followed by another issue, and a domino effect occurs. We've talked about this a lot, and we won't dwell on it much in this post, we just want you to know why we say the things we do. We're honestly amazed by and incredibly appreciative of the amount of support we have, so we've spent a long time calculating our final deliverable deadlines.

Provisional alpha release schedule

July 21st 2018 - Half world Alpha update (Half of all plot will be available to play, massive feedback gathering update)
September 17th 2018 - Plot finish date (All major plot areas will be available to play, core world map released to public for feedback)

As our current development has switched to a feedback-development-release cycle we won't give the definitive final release date until we release the September update. We want to get it right, we're amazed by the feedback we're getting but too often developers get ahead of themselves and hit the release button without vital, sometimes trivial levels of polish and user experience. Koe's language design back-end needs to be perfect for us to do this.

May update

This month we've been working on the same "mid-world" areas from before, here's the rundown.

This part of the game will be available in the next update, so we're not giving any more info besides what we gave last time to avoid any spoilers. The lighting is still WIP, so apologies in advance if the following screens are too dark on your device.

 Uchawi's hut & perk system

We've mentioned our desire to create a grid-like leveling system to complement the current traditional exp leveling system, and we've been working on a way to level up Konose and your Avatar friends using your hiragana on a pedestal on the next island.

We're not revealing who Uchawi is just yet, she'll be mentioned pretty soon after you carry on from the current alpha, but here's a sneak peak of the environment.

Oh- one more thing, if you haven't already played the alpha or given feedback, we're going to setup a small 3-question survey for the next Kickstarter update. We understand it's a pain writing out your thoughts for each alpha update, so we'll try to make it easier/streamlined for future releases.

That's all for this time, if there's an incremental update between now and the next alpha release we'll be sure to post here before it goes live.

@Vivvav, the current version of the game is Mac-friendly and should work on your system, providing it's an intel-based mac. If you're having trouble with it then please contact us and we can troubleshoot any issues.
