Alpha release update
We're glad so many of you are playing the Koe (声) alpha and we appreciate all the feedback we're getting! As a small developer our playerbase (you guys) influence the way we move forward and how we'll make future development decisions so please do keep them coming.
We'd like to announce that Koe (声) now has a landing page on the Humble Store! We are of course also releasing on Steam, but the Humble ecosystem is amazing for those of us who enjoy DRM-free releases.
We've mentioned before that Koe (声) will be released incrementally through a patch-update system on Steam with each new alpha release, please note that the humble store alpha will require you to download a new build each time. We may create our own patching system for this in the future.
Driver-related crashing and the Linux + Mac OSX builds
Linux and OSX builds for alpha are complete, but have not yet been pushed to the Steam release due to crashing issues we've found with various hardware configurations (most of which are caused by Nvidia Pascal cards with drivers past February 2017) we are still looking into the issue, but the crashing issue does seem common for players with a certain driver, we get around 5-10 reports of it every day.
We therefore ask if anyone is getting similar driver-related crashes or "application stopped responding"-style crashes then please do send us your output logs! We'll provide a workaround fix for this in the next build.
For players using the now deprecated forum builds, we are aware of the controller issues on all platforms and have found the issue and fixed it, the fix will be pushed to the next alpha build.
We're aware that a few of you have still not received your Steam keys due to bounced mail issues. If you have emailed us then you will get your key after we get new beta keys issued through Steam, we apologise for the delay with this.
Getting in to the alpha
If you are a non-backer and looking to play the Koe (声) alpha, please note that we have not set up a Patreon page, nor have we set up the ability to back the project since the Kickstarter. We did get reports of someone trying to impersonate us and create a Patreon page for access to the Alpha, but this seemed to have been removed immediately. Our official update channels are koegame.net, strawberry-games.com, and this Kickstarter page, and we'll provide details of how you can get into the alpha in the next update.
That's all for now! We have some great stuff to show for the next alpha release but we thought you'd like to play it first, so we're looking to get that released in the next few weeks. We'll of course post an update with the changes and updates after the build goes live.
