What an incredible 15 days. Thanks to you all, we reached our initial goal in half the time we were allotted. We have been amazed, humbled, overwhelmed and thankful by the support you all have shown us the last two weeks and can not wait to get the album in your hands. The next two weeks our hope is that as word continues to spread the family will grow even more. Any extra money will help us fund our acoustic EP dedicated to this campaign, assist with the printing costs of the CD and perhaps even help us to afford a website we can be proud of.
We Love you All.
Brother of Pearl
**Note: If you pledge money but we do not reach our goal by Dec. 24, you will NOT be charged. Your card should not be charged until funding is over and only if we reach our goal. Thanks!**
It is both humbling and exciting when the three of us recount the ways in which God has already blessed us beyond our wildest dreams. Not just in music, but in friendships, families, and the memories He has given to us thus far. As we unknowingly set out on this musical journey just under a year ago, God has continued to surprise and overwhelm us with undeserved blessings along the way.
What began as the dream of two college roommates to one day record an album for posterity came alive when Matt and Tyler met up with Josh in Houston. After discovering their eerily similar musical heritage and a renewed desire, the early makings of a "band" were all present.
We began writing songs and playing for friends around campfires and in living rooms when the first door opened, the opportunity to record a demo at Arlyn Studios in Austin with a childhood friend. From there, our friends Drew and Ellie Holcomb took a chance by asking us to open for them at Stubb's BBQ in Austin only two months into our journey. This was the most incredible musical moment of our lives. The support following the show was overwhelming. Door after door would continue to open up until we found ourselves with the opportunity to record an album with accomplished producer Josh Moore (Derek Webb, Caedmon's Call, Bethany Dillon, Bun-B, and many others).
After months of deliberating, we felt like this was a unique opportunity that should not be passed up. With over twenty songs written and a lifelong dream hanging in the balance, we felt ready to record an album and we wanted to get it right the first time. Knowing this, we saved every dollar earned from Brother of Pearl and contributed personally to come up with over $14,000. Unfortunately, this is only about 60% of our budget for the album. With no record label or company financing the album, it is up to us to fund the entire project. There is studio time, session musicians, engineers, mastering costs, duplication costs, album artwork and many other things that go into making a record "budget". It is a lot of money, but we view it as an investment needed to create the album we envision.
Enter "The Family of Pearl," that's you. We need to raise $10,000 over the next 30 days to help us complete our album. If we don’t exceed the full amount of $10,000 we get NONE of it! It’s all or nothing. Although this is a lot of money and may sound crazy, we believe it is an achievable goal for our family, friends and fans who believe in our dream and the music we are making. Any money over this amount will go toward expenses for tour dates as we look to expose our music to a wider audience.
While there is nothing we can give you of equal value to the support and encouragement you all have given us throughout this journey, we have created a number of different gift options as a means to say “Thank-You” for supporting our album. Some of the options include:
- A full band house show or concert at your next event
- Breakfast of Pearl, we’ll cook you and your friends the breakfast of your dreams
- Your name listed as an album sponsor
- Early release of the album, t-shirt, pictures and more!
We are already so blessed to call you friends and family, and it has been truly wonderful to feel the support you have given us throughout this improbable yet awesome journey. Working on the album truly has been the fulfillment of many dreams for the three of us, not to mention an unforgettable experience.
Please help us in this endeavor through direct support or, just as important, spreading the word to your friends, family, or anyone that loves good music!
In the words of Sister Sledge "We are FAMILY"
Let it Ride,
Brother of Pearl
