A game about getting your coffee at work before annoying coworkers catch you!
Dave’s counting down to retirement, as you will see his wife reminding him.
To fully enjoy his retirement, Dave must make as much money as possible in his remaining days. He can then use this money to purchase items to entertain him (and you) on his home computer.
Dave’s job is compensation based pay—meaning you only get paid if you do a good job! This normally wouldn’t worry Dave…
...unless Dave doesn’t get his coffee!
Risk vs Reward: Choose your level each morning. As payouts increase, so does difficulty.
What happens in retirement?
You will just have to wait for the final game to see!
What I left out from the above is the core of the gameplay: How Dave must get his coffee!
With Pac-Man inspired gameplay, Dave must collect all of the coffee beans in the level and make his way back to the coffee maker without getting caught by "Chatty Cathy".
Successfully achieving this task gives Dave a pay day!
Failure to do so pays nothing!
Here is a clip of the gameplay, where I take on 3 Chatty Cathies:
To keep things concise, which is hard for me, let me do some bullets:
- Grew up loving video games, like a lot of us I'm sure
- After taking some programming courses at a young age, I figured making a video game was too difficult or complicated and just something I could never achieve
- Fast forward many many years, got a bit bored with life at times and downloaded a game engine just out of curiosity
- Dabbled with gamedev and started learning pixel art as a hobby
- About 5 years later (and many hobby projects) I want to release my first "real game" (aka for sale)
I say all of that to get a bit of a human factor into this. I'll be honest—this isn't my dream game. The game doesn't have the biggest scope or coolest features—I've had people say this is just "a Pac-Man bootleg" to me. But I wanted to get something "released", and run a KickStarter, to go through the experience. I wanted to get something out and see how the public reacts as opposed to going into a cave and working on "my master creation" that I see many indiedevs do...for years and years.
So support for this project I really see it as support for me and for future games!

Risks and challenges
This is the first game I'd release for Steam. Hopefully there will only be hiccups but no wrenches. Also, most other games I've created are short and simple so some aspects may take more troubleshooting and debugging than I expect. For example most of my past games haven't required a save game system. Though I have tested out creating a save game system and gotten it working with light testing that is an area that could take longer than expected if issues arise.
I feel that the majority of the game's structure and features are complete. The main focus will be creating and implementing the items for Dave to purchase.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
