About this project
With the humbling and overwhelming success of the first book, I've decided to expand the concept, making this a series of beautifully illustrated, high end art books, concentrating on different aspects of the world of Creature and Character Design. They will cover everything from prosthetic makeup, puppets, and stop motion as well as some of the cutting edge work being done with CGI these days. I feel this is yet another way to explore and share my passion for creatures, monsters, makeup, film and toys, by bringing you the best quality books possible, at an affordable price.
This second installment, appropriately titled The Art of Creature and Character Design Volume 2, will focus mostly on maquettes, models and miniatures. This volume will be a little bit more of a "how to" book, showing the techniques of making armatures, sculpting in different mediums and painting for the film industry, toys, models and miniature gaming pieces.
It will feature some awesome collaborations done over the years by myself, Jordu Schell and a few other artists returning from the first book, as well as showcasing the art of some of the most revered and widely respected names in the collectible sculpture and model kit industry. The Shiflett Brothers; Brandon and Jarod, Tony Cipriano, Tim Bruckner, Shawn Nagle and Mike Hill are just a few of the amazing artists that will be featured in this stunning volume.
One of the greatest things that happened over the course of compiling the first book, was getting introduced to some astounding artists that I'd never heard of before, who will be included in Volume 2. These European artisans simply made my jaw drop, with some astonishing miniature and model kit sculpture work. Patrick Masson, Giorgos Tsougkouzidis, Jason Monkman and Apikit Mechan, will be joining Brandt Peters, Damon Bard, Chris Gabrish, Mark Newman and others, to round out the roster of simply brilliant artists in The Art of Creature and Character Design Volume 2.
And if you missed the opportunity to grab the first book, don't worry... There's two reward tiers that feature BOTH copies! The first book is almost sold out, so there will be a limited number of rewards in these tiers.
Stay tuned for more news, imagery and stretch goals in this exciting new chapter in The Art of Creature and Character Design. Thanks again for all your love and support on book one. It was truly a collaborative effort, that I couldn't have done without all my colleagues and most importantly, all of YOU.
Here is the T shirt that has been added to ALL the reward tiers. Basically, I've created a new reward tier for each one available and added 13 dollars for the shirt. If you've already pledged, and would like the shirt, just look for the same tier you backed, with the 13 dollars added on and adjust your pledge! It's that simple. The other REALLY cool and exciting thing about this, is that it's opened up a new reward tier for the early bird, giving you another chance to get the softcover for 30 dollars AND the T shirt. This is reward tier #7 and it gives people 50 more chances to get the early bird price on the book if you want the Tee! Shirts will available from Small to 5X. (2x and above sizes will require a few more dollars that will be invoiced when I send out the surveys.)
Thanks again from the bottom of my heart,

Risks and challenges
A book is always a difficult undertaking. Good printing to do a book of this quality is not cheap, and it's a lot of work. I've had to wrangle the help of a lot of different artists, to contribute to the book. Shipping to foreign countries also presents challenges, but it simply comes down to whether backers outside the US are willing to pay extra for the shipping of the actual book. It makes it more expensive, and that's why I'm offering a digital download as well, for my foreign backers. Printing also has a tendency to run a bit behind schedule, especially to a perfectionist like me. In the event that situation arises, I will keep everyone appraised of the situation with constant updates, just like I did on my last very successful KICKSTARTER campaign for The Art of Creature and Character Design Volume 1, where I kept everyone updated along the way and had a great time doing it. I'm hoping this campaign will be equally successful, and bring this awesome book to everyone who pledges.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
