About this project
The Adams Art Gallery hosts many young and upcoming regional artists. Also we work with SUNY Fredonia and its students to give additional exhibit space for their Senior Shows. Each spring we have our annual Urbscheit Show which displays art created in local High Schools and is named for Lawrence Urbscheit a well love local art teacher who taught at the Fredonia Normal School the predecessor of SUNY Fredonia.
Thousands of people visit the gallery every year; many have never been exposed to the arts before. We service many underprivileged families who would not have any access to the arts if our gallery was no longer in their neighborhood.
The handsome Adams Art Gallery building that sits on the corner of 6th Street and Central Avenue in Dunkirk New York is one of the few buildings left in the city that is more than 100 year old. The flat roof has seen better days and needs to be replaced. Currently we need to patch the roof twice a year and soon this will no longer be an option. Once the roof fails the Dunkirk will lose another historic building.
Also as we are a 501c3 organization your contributions are tax deductible.
Risks and challenges
I do not foresee any problems with the roof replacement. We are working with a well-established company that has been doing commercial roofs in the area for several decades, and we currently have a working relationship with them, when we call them they are on the job within 2 days.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
