Introducing Wayfarer by Ill Gotten Games!
Wayfarer is a tabletop role playing game in which intrepid explorers adventure between realities. Narratives span multiple genres, from high-concept science fiction, to sword and sorcery epics, and everything in between.
Using the Continuum Narrative Engine at its core, a modular role playing system with a ground-breaking engine based on real-world physics, no idea is beyond the scope of Wayfarer. If you can imagine it, you can play it.
To give your trans-universal adventures a head start, the book is full of pre-made species, non-player characters (NPCs), technology, and spells. Using the Continuum Narrative Engine, you'll be able to create anything you want, expanding the multiverse or, if you prefer, establishing a single setting.
Wayfarer is only one example of game settings that can be built using the Continuum Narrative Engine, and we're looking forward to establishing a community of creatively driven gamers to share their creations and improve upon the Continuum experience.
Sadly, for this campaign, shipping on physical items can only go to backers within the United States as we can't predict the volume and cost of international shipping. However, we encourage international backers to go for the PDF version ($5 level) and to check back with us in the future about international distribution.
Trans-universal Nobody ($1): If you want to drop us a dollar, we don't have any real incentives, though we will love and adore you. Yes, both of those things.
Displaced Earthling ($5): At the $5 pledge, you get a pdf version of the Wayfarer rules codex. Its just like the book version, but you save money and, even better, trees. If you're not hung up on the idea of owning a physical book, this level will be just fine (and to be fair, this is really the way that we've been playing the game all these years).
Wayfarer ($20): At the $20 level, you get a physical copy of the Wayfarer rules codex.
Verser ($25): At the $25 level, you get a physical copy of the Wayfarer rules codex and a pdf version.
Dominion Officer ($35): At the $35 level, you get two physical copies of the Wayfarer rules codex and a pdf version. As lifelong gamers, we know its always good to have a spare rulebook at the table.
Doorman ($50): At the $50 level, you get three physical copies of the Wayfarer rules codex and a pdf version.
Lost Agent ($100): At this level, not only do you get a physical copy of the Wayfarer rules codex and a pdf version, but you'll also get a signed piece of original Wayfarer artwork by Austen Zaleski. We have eight of these available, and selection will (in the spirit of gaming) be randomized! We'll literally be rolling a die to determine which one you get... no joke.
Branar Lasher ($100): At this level, one backer will receive a physical copy of the Wayfarer rules codex, a pdf version, and a 3D printed Branar Lasher model, designed and hand-painted by Dutchmogul. This is a creature featured within the codex, and the model is scaled for standard 28mm gaming (he's a big one).
Blisterbelch ($100): At this level, one backer will get a physical copy of the Wayfarer rules codex, a pdf version, and a 3D printed Blisterbelch model designed and hand-painted by Dutchmogul. Blisterbelch is scaled for standard 28mm gaming and is on a 100mm base (so... quite large). We'll also send you a character sheet spec'd out with Blisterbelch's game rules.
Wind Dragon ($150): At this level, one backer will get a physical copy of the Wayfarer rules codex, a pdf version, and a 3D printed Wind Dragon model (including gnomish crew) designed and hand-painted by Dutchmogul. In Wayfarer, the Wind Dragon is an enchanted airship capable of traveling between worlds and crewed by gnome wizards. The model is scaled for standard 28mm gaming and we'll include stat sheets for the ship and its crew (as they're not featured in the codex itself).
Omnisphere ($200): At this level, one backer will get a physical copy of the Wayfarer rules codex, a pdf version, and a 3D printed Omnisphere model designed and hand-painted by Dutchmogul. In Wayfarer, Omnispheres are structures left behind by a long-gone alien species that, if operated by a highly specialized technician known as a "Doorman," may transport a party of adventurers to another Omnisphere located in a different reality. This is a massive terrain piece scaled for 28mm gaming (the top is even removable so you can put models inside).
Observer ($200): At this level, up to ten backers will get a physical copy of the Wayfarer rules codex, a pdf version, and a custom character illustration to be entered into the final version of the codex. Both of our artists have committed to five extra illustrations and, if you drop us a line with a detailed character description and/or a rough sketch, they'll immortalize your character into the codex. This is going to be time-sensitive as we want to release the codex to all of you wonderful backers in a timely fashion, so make sure you get your descriptions to us right away. Also, be as descriptive as possible, as we'll only be getting one shot at interpreting your concept! Feel free to include background info as we may even find a way to incorporate some flavor text (depending on the section into which it ends up being formatted). -A quick note: Wayfarer is an extremely open setting, so all kinds of characters will be acceptable, but we will work with you on changes if your concept is inappropriate for the book-
Arkanite ($250): At this level, up to two backers will get a physical copy of the Wayfarer rules codex, a pdf version, and a custom, 3D printed miniature of your player character designed and painted by Dutchmogul. As with the Observer level reward (see above) you'll need to send us some info on your character. Because of the printing process, you may need to wait an additional month or two before the model is sent to you, though you'll receive the codex and pdf at the target date. The character model will be scaled for standard 28mm gaming (heroic scale).
Thanks for backing us, and from everyone at IGG, happy gaming!
Risks and challenges
The Wayfarer rules codex is in its final stages, and all it needs is a good professional edit before we send it off. As backers, you'll help us achieve that.
Additionally, we would like to give our Observer-level backers a chance to get their own characters illustrated and put into the codex. This means that our resident artists will need a little time to complete those illustrations before we finish the final format of the book.
We've researched our printing options and have found an affordable and reputable publisher. We've also secured a professional editor and have been testing the game system for over ten years.
All things considered, we think that two months from the campaign end date should be plenty of time for us to get our ducks in a row and get your products sent.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
