What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Proof of Concept

Explorations that test ideas and functionality.

Functional Prototype

Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.

Appearance Prototype

Looks like the final product, but is not functional.

Design Prototype

Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Production Prototype

Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

About

Our story

The origins of Uriji Jami take us back to the eighties, in the heart of the Venezuelan rain forest. In a conversation between a father, Rodolphe Clauteaux, and a son, Jean, the desire is expressed to set-up a network of men and women of goodwill, a network both supportive and professional, full of humanity and interaction. The idea remained in the son’s heart, who thirty years later, after a rich professional experience as the CEO of a multinational company, decided to make it happen.

Founded in 2015 by Jean Clauteaux and James Aschehoug, Uriji Jami is today the first social network to introduce intrinsically a new temporal aspect in interactions between people: the future. By linking the past with the future via the present, Uriji Jami gives to the future the same importance as the past and the present. The future becomes a positive aspect of the social network and an integral part of the interactions that will follow.

Uriji Jami is born from a frustration: the way social networks currently work does not allow someone to achieve their potential. Starting from its original vision that ‘life is our main asset’, Uriji Jami places life, our most precious possession, at the centre of all interactions. Life is a capital. And as any capital, you must try to make it grow. Growing it by developing everyone’s potential via the creation of a quality social network, made up of people of goodwill, users with a particular mind-set who engage right from the start, to share their dreams and experiences, to make their interactions a reality in order to fulfil their potential.

How can we share our dreams and stories? By using a digital tool, an iOS application, that uses an algorithm taking into account users’ dreams and stories. Each time you connect to the Uriji Jami app, the algorithm is enriched with every user’s contributions, thus, the results are never the same. What is actually new in these interactions is the introduction of the financial aspect: if desired, the user has the possibility to monetize his expertise. Although, we can always share our experience for free, giving users the opportunity to have some financial compensation may enhance the potential of interactions by providing them credibility, recognizing their value and establishing a relationship of equals between the parties. Some people may well feel more at ease if, to complete their project, they have the possibility to 'buy' someone else’s experience.

Our past is linked to experiences that occurred in a specific geographical context, in the future Uriji Jami, wishes to bring a spatial and contextual dimension into the timeline of each user profile. Hence, integrating space in our timeline will be essential to capture the complexity of the user and to assess accurately his potential.

Highlighting the potential of the human being is the essence of Uriji Jami.

About the Product

Uriji is a mobile app combining social networking and e-commerce that enables its users to post their dreams (aspirations) & their stories (experiences) and reach out to other inspiring people to share and learn. In addition, it also provides users with the opportunity to sell their experiences and buy other people’s.

How does the app works?

  • Post your dreams: create your dreams and let other people know what your goals are, so they can help you.
  • Post your stories: your experiences are precious, share them with others and monetize them if you wish.
  • Display your timeline: shows your past experiences, your major milestones and your future aspirations in an interactive timeline
  • Match them: Uriji helps you find content from other users that matches yours. Reach out to the content owners, get inspired and help others.
  • Buy or sell content: stories are valuable why not gain from other's experiences or monetising them to make some extra earnings

Why a Kickstarter Project?

Why did we decide to go to Kickstarter in the first place? Mainly because crowdfunding is the ultimate tool for validation. There’s no better way to test demand for the Uriji App than to ask people.

Funding Goal: £10 000

The Uriji App is already developped, but needs professional software engineering to make sure that the final product meets the same high quality standards as our site images. The funding goal covers all design, development and administrative costs necessary to produce and maintain the app.

Project Schedule

Here is a brief timeline of how we plan to roll out Uriji Jami in the coming months:

  • 15th November 2016 full release of the Uriji iOS App
  • March 2017 release of the Web App
  • June 2017 realease of the Android App

Risks and challenges

We are experienced programmers, but there will always be risks in any app development effort:

Deployment risk:
-This is a mobile, web, and server based software project, with all the risks normally associated with software development.
-There are also various risks in approval and deployment from Apple that are out of our control. We do not anticipate any problems but it’s a process that we do not control.
- Project costs and schedule estimates are the result of our evaluation of the technical and approval risks and our familiarity with this type of project. We are committed to completing this project once the funding goal has been achieved, and keeping you informed every step of the way.

Adoption risk:
It is critical that we quickly develop a large user base for this app to make it really useful for the community at large. We are planning for good word of mouth and word spreading through the social networks on Facebook, Twitter, etc. to achieve this. If we’ve underestimated the cost and effort to get the word out, and we don’t overachieve our funding goal to make up for this, we could have a released app with too few users to be useful. If this becomes the case count on us to make every personal effort to get the word out and to raise more funds to help.
