About this project
We reached our funding goal in a remarkable 30 hours and we are so grateful to all our backers for allowing Query the Game to become a reality! We are always looking to improve the Query experience. Several of our backers have asked about expansion packs and we’d be thrilled to produce these for you.
STRETCH GOAL #1 If we reach $15,000 – We create a theme-based Query expansion pack. YOU vote on which one we create from the following categories: (i) science fiction & fantasy (ii) movies (iii) pop culture (iv) sports (v) politics (vi) history (vii) art (viii) science
STRETCH GOAL #2 If we reach $20,000 – We create the Query After Dark expansion pack (the adult version of Query)
What is Query
Query is a party game where players earn points for identifying the top internet search predictions and for fooling others into choosing their well-crafted answers. It's great in a family or more adult social setting.
- Players 3+
- Ages 14+
Each card has a Query beginning and 4 real Query endings. The dealer reads the Query beginning out loud and players come up with their own endings, write them down on whiteboards, and submit them to the dealer.
Meanwhile the dealer chooses a real Query ending that he thinks nobody will guess from the card and writes it down on a whiteboard. The dealer reads all the endings out loud, including the one he chose. Players then take turns guessing which is the real ending.
- 2 points are awarded to the player that chooses the correct query ending (the one the dealer chose)
- 1 point is awarded to a player if another player chose his/her ending
- 3 points are awarded to the dealer if nobody guesses the correct ending. See below for complete instructions.
Object of the game
- To write a Query ending that other players will choose as the correct answers
- To select the correct Query ending from those read aloud by the dealer
- To be the first player to reach the space marked FINISH on the play surface
- 1 play surface
- 6 player pieces
- 600 queries
- Instructions and scorecard
- 6 mini whiteboards
- 6 white erase markers
How it looks
My sister Nikki and I had a habit of sharing quirky internet search predictions with one another. We found it so entertaining we decided to turn the concept into a game for others to enjoy. Turns out, they got a kick out of it too!
To create Query, more than 1000 internet search beginnings, like "Why do my..." were entered over 1 million times on major search engines across North America. The most common search endings like "Why do my...feet smell" were used to create this game that puts society's internet search queries into a ridiculous - and hilarious context.
Where the funds will go
After many test runs, we know that Query is ridiculously fun and addictive. We've nailed the design and game play, now we need your help to manufacture the game and get the word out. The funds that we raise here will allow us to produce and print the game.

Risks and challenges
Query has been play tested a dozen times in Toronto amongst various age and interest groups allowing us to refine game play and flow. The game is in a great place from a design and game play standpoint. However, there is plenty of work ahead. While we have identified a manufacturer and are very confident in the quality of the product they offer, some challenges remain. Specifically, over the next few weeks, we are hoping to nail down logistics (i.e. shipping, warehousing and fulfillment).
Given that this is our first kickstarter campaign, we are open to your suggestions on how to create a rewarding experience for all backers. We always welcome your feedback in order to reach Query's full potential.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
