to Our Kickstarter Campaign!
Our new fine art gallery is set to open in the heart of the booming Hertel Avenue district of Buffalo NY.*
Revolution Gallery will feature contemporary, original fine art; exhibiting paintings, sculpture, and mixed media work by local, national and international artists. It will host regular exhibits year round, with a new show every 4-6 weeks at the gallery, and available as an online presence on our website. Our plans also include the construction of a wine bar inside the gallery, where our guests may relax and enjoy a glass (or two!).
Craig was the founder and owner of a successful gallery in San Francisco, and Maria is in her second year as the Gallery and Art Collection Director at a four year university. Both have curated shows, installed and hung artwork, coordinated opening receptions, handled sales with clients, and advertised exhibitions. Craig’s twenty-five year career, showing nationally and internationally in solo and group shows, gives him a unique perspective as an exhibiting artist, and as a gallery owner. Maria’s twenty-eight years’ experience as a graphic / web designer, art director, and small / local business owner of a design studio gives her professional skills to effectively promote and grow a new gallery in event networking and community relations.
What Will the Contributions Support?
After months of looking, we have finally found the perfect spot for this business venture. We have rented and are now the proud tenants of the space formerly occupied by The Second Reader Book Store, across from the historic North Park Theatre. The space is ideal, however it does need some renovations to fully realize our project, and we are asking for your partnership.
About a year ago, we researched costs and made financial plans in preparation of becoming gallery owners. The overall budget to reach our goal is approximately $22,000; we are asking for contributions totaling $15,000. Renovations include installing a new floor, dry-walling and painting over the existing walls, purchasing and mounting a track lighting system, setting up a new security system, integrating a working kitchen next to the custom-constructed bar, and dividing the area to include an office. We have also considered the cost of buying furniture (sofa, bench, bar stools, tables, display case, etc.) and necessary office supplies (printer, scanner, flash drives, etc.). Personal experience and skills are helping to keep our advertising budget at a reasonable $1000.
Wine should always be served at art gallery openings, and we wanted to go one step further. By having a permanent, small wine bar in the space, gallery-goers will be able to enjoy the latest seasonal wine offerings and cheese pairings. And for our guests who may not frequent art galleries, we hope they will come for the wine, but stay for the art. To ensure we are providing delicious, affordable wine selections, we will have a wine sommelier periodically guide us through the process.
Our Heartfelt Thanks to All Who Contribute
Your contributions will make it possible for us to bring the gallery to life. We invite you to become part of this community project that establishes Revolution Gallery as a hub for the local and global art communities, helping to make Buffalo a more substantial contemporary art destination.
To thank you for funding our project, we are offering incentives based on what you can contribute. Every little bit helps, and ALL pledges will be acknowledged and deeply appreciated!
We have thoughtfully chosen all our rewards and look forward to unlocking our special Stretch Rewards, once we have surpassed our goal! A lot of exciting changes are happening in our city; there are cool new shops, restaurants, bars, and hotels. We are hoping Revolution Gallery will contribute to the ongoing growth of the Hertel neighborhood, the arts community, and Buffalo itself!
Please be a part of this new adventure with us! We are grateful for your involvement and belief in our vision.
Thank you very much for your support!
Risks and challenges
To successfully open Revolution Gallery, it's important and necessary for us to reach our minimum goal. Reaching our goal will ensure that Revolution Gallery will be the beautiful and welcoming space we anticipate it to be. We cannot wait to present our vision to the public, to exhibiting artists, and to the arts community at large.
Each and every dollar contributed is important to us and we hope you will share our campaign with other like-minded folk!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
