LET'S HIT $1000! I gave cameras to currently homeless volunteers. They took pics of what "home" means=art show=empower
We hit our first goal....let's stretch it to $1000! Additional funds are needed to help us A) Incorporate more images into the show B) Cover the cost of printing the additional images.
Heart Is Where the Home Is aims to empower members of the homeless community through creative photography that depicts the day to day experiences of members of the Austin community who are experiencing homelessness. We handed out cameras to willing volunteers who are currently without houses. They were instructed to take pictures that captured what "home" meant to them. The result? An art event in East Austin that features the fruits of their labor and puts a face to the issue of homelessness.
We collected the cameras and are now in the final phase of editing the photographs and featuring them at an art space in Austin. Funds are needed to help pay for the editing/production process as well as the large scale printing of the photographs. We are ultimately hoping that these images can be produced in such a way as to place the viewer on an empathic, "walk a mile in someone else's shoes" journey. In order to create the final product, we need innovative strategies and, you guessed it...funding....to bring out the best in each image.
Your donations are greatly appreciated. With your help, we can make these images come to life and bring dignity to people who are without homes and bring social stigmas to light by fostering a dialogue about these issues in the city of Austin.

Any potential setbacks in this problem would occur in the production process. It could take longer than expected to edit and print the photographs. However, we've teamed up with some pretty fantastic people, and I don't foresee someone not staying on top of responsibilities.
Though this is a work in progress, we have the pieces in place...we just need some help making these images as beautiful as possible for the final showing!
