What we are. A place where you don't have to be vegan or a raw food connoisseur to enjoy a sip or a bite.
Who we are. Founded by Alexandra Blake Messenger with the support of her family and friends, we are building a culture around raw wholesome food. Over the past year we have successfully developed 2 insanely popular product lines, made up of 7 different fruit and vegetable juice blends and 2 nut mylks, with so much more up our sleeves.
Prepared primarily from local seasonal ingredients. We are those loco for local consumers who are willing to spend $10 on a pint of small batch homemade coconut milk ice cream at the farmers market, and strangely not regret it because we know it is a premium product that was made with so much love.
The minute BLAKE ORCHARD was born we were determined to not only source organically, but locally as well. New England is blessed with amazing farmers who spend so much of their time harvesting beautiful nutritious fruits and veggies. Our mission is to support local agriculture as much as we can and create nutritious plant-based food and beverage items that will contribute to a thriving community in Portland, Maine and eventually beyond.
Why we need your help. We want to establish a permanent home! A place to feel connected to on a daily basis, a place to build new relationships and a sense of community. Your support will reflect this and help us build an even greater community-driven inspired business.
What will we offer? Our menu will consist of raw cold-pressed juices pressed daily and bottled in glass; handmade nut mylks made daily and bottled in glass; juice cleanse programs; breakfast bowls.
What people are already saying.
“Your vanilla almond mylk is hands down THE BEST almond milk I have ever had!” -Ashley
“My last dying wish may be to swim in a pool of this chocolate almond mylk” -Katie Lemons of @twistoflemons
“I am super impressed with this organic juice. It's so good! Awesome combinations and very fresh. Love the glass jars too!” -Sonia Johnson"I live for the vanilla almond mylk - if I can't make it to get a fresh bottle at the market, my entire week is thrown off!" -Rachel Ross
So, are you ready to try some or what? Help us bring this project to life! We are so passionate and insanely determined to bring a new premium juice shop to Portland. You know when you crave your own recipes, they are good enough to share with the rest of the world...so, lets do this ladies and gents!
Last note. We have been in business for over a year now, providing numerous communities in Massachusetts and Connecticut with our juices and nut mylks. We have learned so much since our launch in December 2014 and are very proud of what we have already achieved, and continue to strive for. I want our current customers to know that we will continue to sell in Somerville and Cambridge throughout the year at our regular scheduled farmers markets, so all of our regulars from Massachusetts do not be scared about our big move to Portland, ME - (we know you were worried for a minute). We love all of you, all of our loyal customers that help us feel confident about what we are doing on a weekly basis, and cannot wait to grow our customer base and connect with more people who care just as much about their health as we do.

2014 was a BIG year for me. I graduated from Roger Williams University with a degree in Marketing, was hired at a Marketing company 2 weeks later, quit 5 months later, and launched BLAKE ORCHARD 2 months after that, YIKES!
Besides upsetting a few people and making my parents nervous, in 2014 I really put myself out there. I went around town asking local business owners if they would rent me kitchen space during off hours to produce my juice, and received many confused looks and no’s. I was determined though, so I went and spoke with a few people at the Town Hall. I was told to get in touch with the new owners of Rice Fruit Farm, a 100 year old local farm stand located in Wilbraham, MA that was planning a grand opening after being closed for 6 years. It was the perfect match that I am still very thankful for today.
The minute I got set up in there I began producing juice off of a Norwalk that I received as a graduation gift. I sold my juice at a few farmers markets in Massachusetts and Connecticut that winter and offered home deliveries. The Norwalk allowed me to produce about 60 bottles of juice in about 14-16 long hours. I knew that I couldn’t go into the summer season like this, so my next step was to invest in a commercial cold-press juicer.
AMEN, $13,750 later I was the new owner of a Pressed Right juicer and my production time was now cut in half. That summer I participated in 7 different farmers markets which was such a fun, yet exhausting experience. Now fast forward to today, I continue to have so much love and appreciation for the Farmers Markets that have supported me over the past year. BLAKE ORCHARD has developed an amazing dedicated following in Somerville and Cambridge that makes me smile even on the days that I show up with only having 3.5 hours of sleep. However, the problem with this business model is that we only have a few hours to sell on a market day, and we do not always have a market to attend each day of the week. Our juice is raw and has a shelf life of only 72 hours, which means we have to play it safe every market and bring what we think will sell out. This often ends in us selling out too quickly or on a bad day bringing a lot of bottles home with no other outlets to get them sold. It’s a frustrating balance to manage.
This is why I am here launching a Kickstarter. It is my absolute dream to bring premium raw juices, nut mylks, and breakfast bowls to people on a daily basis, encourage GOOD nutritional habits, and contribute to a thriving community of high quality food and agriculture. Opening a retail space is the BEST decision for BLAKE ORCHARD and for you as consumers of our product.
Your contributions will help us purchase necessary equipment and build out a space that is currently empty with very little plumbing. It is going to be a big project, but we are ready and excited about the location!
PLEASE SHARE SHARE SHARE this campaign!!! Thank you so much for your time and contributions, you have absolutely no idea how much this means to me and the BLAKE ORCHARD team.
