For the last two years we have been filming and editing a feature-length documentary about Dennis Skinner. We have finished filming and now putting the final touches to the film.
You can watch the film's first teaser trailer here.
We're asking for this money to pay for unavoidable post-production costs - archive images and footage, an original soundtrack, sound design and film festival entry fees. We managed to complete filming thanks to kind donations from the NUM, various union branches and members of the public, and we just need one last push to complete the documentary and get it out there.
All our crew have volunteered their time, equipment and expertise towards making the film, but unfortunately passion and determination only get you so far in filmmaking. None of the money raised will be going to anything other than the costs of getting the film completed. We've asked for £18,000. We could do with more, as that would allow us to use more expensive archive material (BBC), but we think that's the maximum amount we can ask the public to help us raise. We will also lose up to 10% of the amount raised through various Kickstarter fees, so we have had to incorporate these costs in to the total.
We hate to ask for this money, but unfortunately this is the only way we can see to get this film out there so the public can view it. So, if you think you would like to support our documentary, please donate any amount you can manage. We will be forever grateful!
Dan and Christie.
Here's a breakdown of where the money will be going:
£3000 - archive images from Getty, Alamy, Rex Features and Mirrorpix.
£7000 - archive footage from ITN, BBC, RT, Parliament TV and Platform Films.
£4000 - sound design.
£1250 - soundtrack.
£1750 - festival fees.
£500 - Kickstarter gifts.
£500 - publicity material - posters, flyers etc.

Risks and challenges
If we reach our target and therefore pay all licenses for the footage we use, the next step is to enter the film into festivals. Here, the film can receive some buzz and get picked up for distribution! But obviously, this is a risk.
There is not a 100% guarantee this will happen straight away. It may well be another hard slog to get this film out there but we WILL get it out there! After two years of believing in this film enough to make it on a shoestring without compromising quality, we would never give up at this point. We believe in this film. We will make sure you get to see it.
These days there are so many options out there - self distribution, on-demand streaming, straight to DVD, small cinema releases...Not only do we believe in our documentary, you have believed enough to donate, and we don't take that lightly.
