About this project
What Is JetChill?
JetChill is a drinks system that creates smoking drinks using liquid Co2 through a unique patented delivery method.
This system injects a dry ice snow directly into a specially made compartment at the bottom of our bespoke glass. This then enables you to safely pour your chosen drink into the glass to create a reaction and give you a different drinking experience.
The drink components are mixed through the bubbling process and at the same time the drink releases its vapours (smoking effect) into the air. These vapours enhance the drink by giving out its aromas and after the reaction the drink is chilled and ready to enjoy.
How Does It Work?
Liquid Co2 Cylinder
Food Grade With Dip Tube
The JetChill machine needs to be connected to a canister of food grade liquid Co2 with a dip tube. The dip tube allows the machine to withdraw liquid Co2 instead of gas Co2.
A cylinder can either be rented or purchased from a cylinder supplier. The cylinder can then be refilled by the same cylinder supplier. Most cylinder suppliers will give the option of delivery/collection to/from an address and also collection/return from/to the store.
In each country you will have a choice of going to a national supplier or you can source from a local supplier. And we can provide information of national suppliers in most countries.
For a standard small 10 litre liquid Co2 canister in the UK you will get around 85 glass charges.
In the UK cost for the cylinder will range from around £7 for a local supplier to £10 for a national supplier.
Always ensure you read your cylinder suppliers Safety Data Sheets before use.
Dry Ice Snow
We have spent 4 years developing an innovative system that removes the issues surrounding traditional methods of creating theatrical drinks, such as using compact dry ice pellets (-79 degrees Celsius) or liquid nitrogen (-196 degrees Celsius).
The secret is that the JetChill machine uses patented technology to create dry ice snow (-79 degrees Celsius). This means that the dry ice can be injected directly into the glass, removing the need to manually handle the dry ice.
The chill chamber stores the dry ice in the glass, so it doesn't escape, meaning the drink can be consumed while it is smoking. The snow also sublimates quickly once a drink is added, removing the need to dispose of the dry ice after use.
We have food standards approval and all our health and safety material is written by accredited hospitality industry health and safety consultants.
The JetChill system comes with JetChill glasses as standard, you can then add on our floor and table service trays as well, in the rewards section.
Shots, Bombs & Cocktails
Glass serves up to 125ml (4.4oz) so suitable for shots, bombs and cocktails. The dry ice effect works best with room temperature, alcoholic, non carbonated drinks. Dry ice will last in the glass for 30 minutes. Once a drink is added to the glass it will smoke for 3 minutes. The drink will also be chilled down from room temperature close to 0 degrees Celsius.
On Trade - Restaurants, Bars & Clubs, Hotels, Resorts
The system can be used commercially in restaurants, bars and clubs which allows venues to generate add on sales and up sales.
The system can be used in a variety of events and locations, bringing the wow factor anytime.
Home Market - Home Bars, Private Villas, Pool Bars, Man Caves
It can also be used domestically to show off to guests, to add a little something special to a celebration or just to enjoy your favourite drink chilled and smoking.
Why We Need Your Support
Be An Evangelist
Using some funding and our own savings we have managed to bring the product this far and create a prototype for the machine we always envisaged.
While we have proved the market with our initial concept we're still a small company. We have put everything into it, spent all the time and money available on research and development and now we have reached the final step. We're looking for your support through Kickstarter to fund tooling and place minimum production quantity orders, to keep the project going. If you back us today to help us get there, then we would greatly appreciate your support!
We have experience when it comes to manufacturing, supply and customer support. We are therefore confident that we will deliver the product successfully as we have with our previous products.
We have managed to reduce machine cost by 75% from our initial prototypes. We believe that the system is value for money due to the fact that it is a new concept that requires unique and heavy duty components that will handle the temperature and pressure of the liquid Co2. This price is also at a considerable discount to distributor retail price.
The machines will be produced by an established equipment manufacturer in the UK. For low volumes (100's) components will be sourced/assembled in the UK which reduces lead time. For higher volumes (1,000's) we have the option to scale up production at their plant in Turkey. The tooling for the glasses and serving tray is already in place from the previous version machine.
Additional Production Features
- The probes will be tooled plastic components with a teflon coating, as opposed to fabricated stainless steel used in the prototype, to prevent the glass from sticking to the probe if the glass is wet.
- There will be a second charge button that will act as 5 second boost. This will top the glass up with dry ice when the cylinder is close to empty and flow reduces.
- A customised production circuit board will be manufactured for the electronics.

Risks and challenges
We have spent 4 years developing, testing and refining the product and we have done manufacturing before with our previous machine so our core technology is solid.
With all hardware projects though there is an element of risk when it comes to manufacturing.
We believe we will stick to our schedule but if there are unintended delays during material transport, manufacturing processes and then shipping, we will always be upfront about them and plan an appropriate course of action and share it with you.
The challenges that we have identified are:
1. Even though we are using an established equipment manufacturer and each machine will be tested before it is delivered, we have not yet produced the JetChill in large quantities.
2. We will need to complete the User Guide, videos and confirm packaging.
3. The one thing that you will need to do is source the cylinder of food grade liquid Co2 with a dip tube.
You can either purchase a canister from a cylinder supplier and go to your cylinder supplier to refill once it is empty.
Or you can rent a cylinder and return/get it collected to be refilled once empty.
In each country you will have a choice of going to a national supplier or you can source from a local supplier.
The JetChill machine connects to a cylinder of food grade liquid Co2 therefore ensure that you read your cylinder suppliers safety data sheets before using the machine.
Liquid Co2 Cylinders are held under high pressure (50 bar in the UK) and misuse may result in injury.
Co2 gas is an asphyxiant and may cause injury if not handled in accordance with your cylinders suppliers safety data sheet, the Confined Spaces Regulation and the JetChill User Manual.
Solid Co2 (dry ice) is -79 degrees Celsius and may cause freeze burns if not used correctly in accordance with the JetChill User Manual.
JetChill advises that the machine should only be operated by trained adults over the age of 18.
As dry ice chilled smoking drinks are designed for alcoholic drinks and the glass contains dry ice, JetChill also advises that smoking drinks should only be consumed by adults above the legal drinking age in respective countries (e.g. 18 in the UK).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
