The wise John Oliver once said, “If you want to do something evil, put it inside something boring.”
Well, a group of policy wonks from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government decided to take something boring and wrap it in something sexy.
Part collaborative photography project and part public thought experiment, the Unsexy Policy calendar celebrates 12 simple, yet effective policy ideas and programs that can make the world a better place.
Many of the policies featured don’t have clear victims or villains. They aren’t easily distilled into slogans.
Angelina Jolie never comforted a disenfranchised voter before an adoring throng of photographers. Bono hasn’t hosted a benefit concert for minimum wage workers. And Macklemore’s 2011 equal rights anthem wasn’t about extending employment protections to LGBT workers.
These issues aren’t sexy, but they affect millions of people daily. Proceeds from the Unsexy Policy calendar will benefit an organization that tackles less publicized but critically important economic, social, and environmental concerns.

Risks and challenges
We plan to mail the calendars and other rewards to Kickstarter supporters by mid-December, but delays in printing and shipping are possible. We have worked hard to anticipate delays but we will make sure to communicate any hiccups to our backers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
