Narrative Encounters for Fate Accelerated Edition

If you enjoy worlds of high fantasy, and if you appreciate the “grab-and-go” qualities of a role-playing game like Fate Accelerated Edition, then rest assured Narrative Encounters will provide you with everything you need to play a game of swords and sorcery and without much preparation. That’s because Narrative Encounters complete dramatic, cinematic scenes that give your players reasons to act and to interact with the world around them, and they’re easy to jump into. Drop Narrative Encounters into your campaign for added flavor, use them as supplemental material for an existing scenario, play them out individually as stand-alone scenes, or use them as inspiration for fleshing out your own adventures.
How to use Narrative Encounters
Narrative Encounters are quick, flexible, and exciting. Each encounter uses snippets of short literary prose that you can read aloud to your players to complete a dramatic, cinematic scene that moves from a long shot to a full shot to a close up and then continues within the close up to raise the stakes for the characters so that they must decide whether and how to take action.
Each encounter also includes illustrations and brief gamemaster notes that include everything you need to use Narrative Encounters with Fate Accelerated Edition, including information about situational aspects, non-player characters (NPCs), mooks, and gadgets.
What’s in Narrative Encounters?
Each 120-page volume of Narrative Encounters includes five encounters filled with fantastic settings, interesting NPCs, and magical gadgets. Your characters might visit a whale-bone cabin by the sea, a temple on stilts set against a high cliff face, or a field of looted cairns on the frozen tundra. Sea witches, dragons, golems, and giants alongside orcs, elves, and dwarves will unnerve and challenge your characters. And in the end, there’s loot, including magic piton hammers, hookahs, halberds, and tridents. We’re sure you’ll find Narrative Encounters to be both original and exciting, and Fate Accelerated Edition is the perfect game system for what Narrative Encounters has to offer.
