About

Hey DAMNers,

We're going to a kickstarter model for each issue in order to ensure that we have the highest quality of art, content, editing and layout that you, of the DCC Community, deserve.

Our format hasn't changed. What do you get:

Pages: ~85 (Issue 1 was 84, Issue 2 was 89)
Size: 8.5x11 softcover book (or PDF)
Other stuff: We always have a color cover, with high quality black and white line art for the interior.

  • At least two "long form" adventures every issue. These multi-session adventures are written by luminaries of the community -- this month we have Daniel J. Bishop's Demon Serpent of Balmorphos (the first part in a serial mega-dungeon) and Paul Wolfe's Cannibal Tiger Women of Tsaru (an adventure that explores the origins of fhyrians from the God-Seed Awakens).
  • "Short form" adventures. These are typically single session (or even single encounter) adventures from up-and-coming DCC authors. This issue we have Cory Gahsman's Portal to the Plane of Probability (an adventure that will have your players scratching their heads as they're running for their lives).
  • DCC Content -- As always, there are new classes, patrons, spells, and tables....lots of tables ... to throw into your game. This month we have a patron from Ari-Matti Piippo -- Ari-Mammon (pictured below)
  • Regular Features -- Every issue, we cover a couple of new products from the best third-party publishers in the DCC community. In addition, we preview upcoming books that are ripe for your DCC campaign. We're going to stalk...er...talk to Stephen Newton about Children of the Fallen Sun and upcoming projects, as well as a few other folks.

I need help. Seriously (this is Paul). I've been doing the writing, content supervision, editing, layout, art direction, mapping, production, marketing, etc for this thing for... a year now. Yeah -- it's only two issues, but it's some serious work. And, generally, I suck at everything but the writing and editing. So, I'm going to engage some layout and additional editing resources, at least. And as we fund at higher levels, bring in mapping and possibly some other resources.

The other reason, is that I'm branching out on cover art. This issue we have a cover by David Fisher and, as a bonus/stretch goal, a second cover by Stefan Poag. More deets below.

This is the plan. It may change as we go along. I don't know what the cap is on this magazine. I think you guys like it, but we'll see.

  • $2,000 -- More art. Especially maps. Professional maps are expensive, which is why you've been treated to my ham-handed skills at mapping. At this level, we can afford maps all around!
  • $2,800 -- Stefan Poag cover. Yeah, that's right. You'll get two DAMN options. One with a friggin' sweet David Fisher cover and one with a friggin' sweet Stefan Poag cover. At the Reaver level, you get them both! Below that, you get to choose which cover you want
  • $3,200 -- Yes! I finally convinced Jason Sholtis to do a full page DCC-focused recurring comic. I'll have more details on this as we cross this stretch goal. I really hope you guys want this as much as I do.

So, by popular demand... well...three people requested it... I've added another tier -- The DAMNed -- where you get all three issues of D.A.M.N. Magazine, along with the PDFs. Also by popular demand (I think it was the same three people), I'm adding the Mystic Bull "catalog." If you want to add any MB product, just up your dollars on your pledge to match what you want to order. When the end-of-Kickstarter survey comes, just note in the comments what additional books you want to order.

Important Note: These books will come separately from the Kickstarter pledged items and you'll be invoiced for shipping separately. I'm sorry if that's unnecessarily convoluted. Unfortunately, I have a couple of books on different POD platforms, so it's general madness.

Anyway, here's the stuff:

About Dungeon Crawl Classics Role Playing Game

DCC RPG is an old-school tabletop role playing game that uses modern rules. Its inspiration is Appendix N, and its rules set is derived from the D20 system (which powered the third edition of D&D). DCC RPG is a single complete rulebook with no additional products to buy. It is supported by an extensive line of adventure modules, and a robust community of third party publishers. DCC RPG has been widely praised for its innovative approach to “old-school.” You can find more information at http://goodman-games.com/

Risks and challenges

We produced two issues of D.A.M.N Magazine last year -- Winter and Autumn. We have the process down pretty well. The big risks with this project concerns delays -- art, editing, layout, final production. We have a pretty aggressive schedule to get the issue out to you guys and in distribution by North Texas RPG Con (first weekend in June).

We're using OBS for fulfillment for this one, so no expected delays in delivery there.

Paul Wolfe is an active member of the DCC community and is at GaryCon and NTRPG Con every year. He's not going to let you down.
