SLEEPOVER LA SECOND TEASER:
SLEEPOVER LA FIRST TEASER:
Sleepover LA is a short film that revamps traditional narrative using a bold score, stylized dance and an eccentric cast to tell the story of an innocent tourist that travels to LA and unexpectedly conjures her sister's last night alive.
When Taylor travels to LA to put her sister's ashes to rest, time begins to blur and the past and present collide. A series of unexpected events take place overnight at The Standard hotel, and she relives her sister Jessica's last night alive, opening her eyes to an entire world she never knew existed.
Sleepover LA is the first collaboration between director Lily Baldwin and producer Nicole Disson, who co-star in the film and co-conceived its premise. Written by Andrea Claire Maio and Baldwin, Sleepover LA poses the questions: How much can change in one night?
In keeping with Baldwin’s recent film, Sea Meadow (SXSW 2012, Art Basel Miami 2013) the director uses cutting-edge movement and a bold mash-up score to create a distinct storytelling vernacular. Disson, an accomplished performer and curator produced THE SERIES, a multi-disciplinary production incorporating dance, film, art, and music at The Standard, Downtown LA. The film features an original score by Mark degli Antoni (Into the Abyss, Soul Coughing), an original track by electronic dance duo ROOM 8 and cinematography by Austin Rhodes. Styled by Katie Casey, with production designs by Sonja Kroop, Sleepover LA is equal parts dance, fashion, music and noir.
Where We Are Now:
Already an amazing team of individuals have pulled together to develop this special project over the past seven months. We were fortunate enough to secure an outstanding location in which to set our story, The Standard hotel in Downtown LA, raised enough funding to carry us through production and had an incredibly successful and memorable three days of shooting. With dozens of people invested in this project, giving their time and talents to bringing the film to life, it is up to us to see the film through these final stages of production!
After which, we can share all our hard work with the world through the festival circuit and various online media outlets, introducing a community of artists, many fresh new faces too, all doing what they love!
We invite you to join us in making this film and thank you for taking the time to watch our video and read our notes.
WHAT THE MONEY WILL GO TOWARDS:
- Editing, editing, editing
- Music Composition
- Music Licensing
- Sound Mixing
- Color Correction
- Graphic Designs for film’s credits and marketing materials
- Festival submissions and much more!
We have created a selection of fun rewards to thank each of you for your contributions towards our film that we hope you will enjoy. We want to give you a taste of what makes Sleepover LA so unique.
We invite you to join us in unifying a community of artists from various cities throughout the United States, as we pull our talents together to create a new conversation between film and dance.
No amount is too small (or great!) and we all sincerely appreciate your generous contributions. We are almost there! If we do not meet our goal by the May 10th deadline, none of the funding will be received!
Thank you in advance for supporting us in our final push to bring Sleepover LA to life and for spreading the word to other friends and family!
Come over and join the Sleepover LA.

Risks and challenges
Right now the biggest challenge we are faced with is coming up with the necessary funding to get us through post production. We already have lined up an incredible team of individuals to accomplish the tasks at hand, who are eager to get started. Additionally, we have created a production schedule for when we would like to see these next steps executed. Of course, people's schedules might change due to unforeseen circumstances that could potentially delay the film from reaching its completion, but we will be pushing hard to make this happen as quickly as possible!
We want to hold off on releasing the film - both in digital downloadable format and DVD - until it has its festival premier. All other incentives listed above will be sent out within the quoted time frame, if not before. We will continue to keep you posted throughout post production and you will be the first to know of our progress, once the film is completed and what happens next!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
