I am 32 years old and my interest in the body as a historical, social, and aesthetic vantage point has been my prime motivator throughout my career as a professional dancer, educator and now as a dance maker.
Graduated from the Norwegian Collage of Dance in 2006 with a BA in Dance and Pedagogy, received a first-class honors Postgraduate degree from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2008. I have performed works by Henri Oguike (UK), Francesco Scavetta (I/NO), Darshan Singh Bhuller (UK), Wendy Houstoun (UK), Sølvig Edvardsen (NO), Carol Brown (UK/NZ), Tatianna Baganova (RUS), Laura Dean* (USA), Susan Hadley (USA), Anne H Ekenes (NO) and others.
Dance / Video work created: "I am Yellow" (Dance/Duet) 2008; "Just My Thoughts And Me..." (Dance for Camera) 2011; "Here And No Where" (Dance/Group) 2011; "Jante" (Dance for Camera) 2012; "Atheist" (Dance/Quintet) 2012.
This summer I have the opportunity to join the International Choreographers Residency (ICR) program at the American Dance Festival (ADF), who invites promising choreographers to the festival for six and one-half weeks and immerses them in the unique breadth and depth of the ADF environment. The ICR is a very important program that responds to questions, needs and interests of emerging choreographers in order to guide and inspire their practice and research as dance makers.
I applied for the ICR program because I want to make connections to people from around the world that are making their way in the field of dance—people with similar interests and thoughts, as well as those with very different once. I want to revolutionize my perception of dance and how it fits with life in general.
My expedition into the art of choreographing began with a blind trust in movements, and a lot of questions like: “when is a work is done?”; “narrative/non-narrative?”; “how do one see the bigger picture?” and etc. Joining the ICR program will provide me with an opportunity to define more tools and approaches to facilitate my future choreographic endeavors.
I am looking forward to participate in classes, seminars, watching performances, reflecting about dance, observe and absorb impressions that later in life will inform my artistic viewpoints.
The cost for this unique program is $4,500 which includes tuition, performance tickets, room, board, and health fee. I am hoping that with help from you all, I can raise a minimum of $2.000
